Dreaded snow tire question

OK so, its over 100 degrees today, and I'm thinking snow tires.......I was thinking about picking up a set of V6 rims and mounting studded tires on my GT. Has anyone done this? Wil the V6 16's fit on a GT?? I got a price of about 160 each for the stock size tire in a snow tire, non studded. any advise will be welcomed. And no this is my DAILY driver, and NO I wont take my 1971 351 BOSS as a winter driver....:D

I dont think the front 16" wheels fit over the larger front calipers on the GT.
I'm using my stock bullets for the winter. I just have to figure what kind of snow tire to use. I'm putting cragars on my stock pirellis and not going up in size.
Snow tires

I bought some Blizzak snows; 265 35 r18 for $375 total for all four delivered to my home from ebay. Right now the user I bought them from is selling 255 40 R17 for $165 a pair. These tires are a must for Chicago weather. I have them on right now even though they are snows they don't really look like it. My friend works at Just Tires and could not belive how much I paid for the tires. This guy on ebay is selling them for a great price!
I'd really love to find a winter beater. But I'm finding a beater car is a delicate situation. It has to be beat up enough to be cheap but not so beat up that it scares the neighbors.

So the plan is either to get a beater or get a nice set of rims for my GT and use the stock ones for winter tires. I REALLY don't want to drive it though. Way to many chances of dings and dents during the winter.
