Well, I am going to be purchasing a 5.0 within next two weeks. I plan on driving this car all year long (even in Michigan winters).

Anyone out there have experience driving in snow with the 19" all season tires? How is it?

I specifically will not get the Brembo brake package because they are summer tires. (+ I hear the car stops good without them too).

Get smaller winter tires if you're going to drive.

Look at the cost of some steelies plus winter tires. Now compare that to your insurance deductible if you slide on ice and hit someone and compare that to the cost of an OEM 19" alloy when you bend it on a pothole. Now add in the peace of mind of better grip on snow and ice.

absolutely craze, park it during the winter. salt will rust out the body, ruin the wheels and mainly mustangs are terrible in the snow especially with 19s. they are bad enough with 15s wrapped in blizzaks...

And put some money aside for a new muffler and a good coating under your car because of the salt they have on the road

I agree with that. In fact thats what I'm working up for with my wife's car. Me I'm ok with all season tires as long as its stick. I really have no problems with it at all.

I've been wondering the same thing. Here in Seattle we only get rain in the winter though. I've been thinking about the Brembo package. Not sure if I should just get the regular brakes and 19's.

Park it in the winter. The salt will destroy it. Get a beater with a good heater.

These posts bother me lol (not trying to be mean theres just been so many of late) It is just I know what the winter does to a car at least in my area, The salt will absolutely chew through a car in 2 winters around here (Western NY) the underbody will be in bad shape and the paint will start to peel up from the rockers.

Think about it this way:
when you go to sell it to lets say get a new mustang all of that rust and damage that has come from the winter will knock the resale value WAY down where as if you park it in the winter and buy a beater to drive you save all that money in the long run from resale value. And this isnt even taking into account if an accident happens in the winter.

I know its a rough thing to have to pick up another car at the same time but it is the much smarter thing to do in the long run.

I had a 90 LX in Buffalo. Shod it with studded snow tires and one day leaving the snow covered parking lot I let out the clutch with out the gas and it just spun. Winter driving a Pony car is a great lesson in car control. At Skip Barber we had to wet down the skid pad and it was not as good of a lesson as a winter driving experience in the Mustang. However, the winter salt will corrode your baby. The following winter I bought a 4 wheel drive beater for $1,300 and stored the Mustang until the sun came out again.

I love Mustangs and everything they stand for. I have lived in Florida for the past 17 years because I love to drive the sports cars year round.

Hmmm, I have a 1999 Camaro I have been driving through the winters. I put 200 lbs of weight in the back and I can survive (not fun but doable). It doesn't even have traction control.

I do not have an issue with rusting on my 1999. I am hoping that Ford cars do not have a rust issue where GM cars do not?

I was assuming that with newer technology, the Ford traction control would be pretty good? I thought I may have to buy snow tires, but was hoping the all seasons would be good enough.

There must be someone here that has driven it through the winter? Please tell me the new cars don't rust and can handle. Please!

I'm in Seattle also. I figure going without the Brembos in favor of all-season tires is just fine given my driving style and habits. Also, if you get the brembo brakes, the car doesn't come with a spare tire.

Crazy. And yet I've done it myself, in Syracuse NY no less, when the Mustang was my only car. Not the ideal winter car by any means, but caution, patience, and an up to date AAA membership can go a long way.

I drove my 08 through the past 2 winters, Except when the roads are covered in ice or snow. When that happens I steal a car from the dealership. had to borrow an explorer for 13 days last winter.. Not worth getting a differnet car for 13 days.

All I can say is I cant speak for other areas and what salt is used but the stuff they use in chautauqua county and western NY is terrible on paint.

The "all weather" tires will be useless in the snow and you will only be asking for an accident

i know its a rough thing to swollow i really didnt want to have an extra car payment or extra car on my insurance but thats the price ya pay for owning a sports car in the north.

I live in NY and I have 19s with all season tires on my Audi(Daily Driver). Honestly, it does get a little nervous when it snows in excess of 4 inches with ice, even with the quattro. I would not recommend 19s for snow winter driving..especially with rear wheel drive.

All season tires are no good in the snow. Snow tires are essential!

However, I've driven my Neon through 7 winters and it hasn't rusted or peeled at all...and there's not many places as snowy as Bruce County, Ontario!

Have driven my Black 06 GT through 4 winters - in Ohio Crawled right through it. Only problem has been getting up my driveway, if not shoveled. I've got it looking like I just drove it off the dealership floor. Just hose off the underside at the manual carwash when possible. I've got 33,000 on the original tires.
