If you want to put dual exhaust on you V6 you might want to consider

Ok horsepower is just air flow through the car created from the engine and cylces out throught the mufflers. the V6 can only put out so much horsepower. So if you install dual exhaust on your V6 you might increase horsepower but your engine has to work harder to generate the more air flow through the car.
Its kinda like blowing through a stirring straw( the ones you use for coffee) and blowing out of it. Putting on dual exhuast is like blowing out of two regular straws. you see how you have to work harder to put out the air.

Thats had your car works it just puts straine on your engine
bad for your V6
thats why its worth it only to put on H or X pipes on your car.

plz tell me what you think

well, I have a V6 with Tru duals and yea, maybe I lost a little bit of torque at the lower ranges but when I hit 3500-4500 rpm, I can fell that exhaust helping me. My tires dont chirp as easy from 2nd -3rd anymore, but I think the sound and hi-end power make up for it. :drink:

no, no, Go to McDonalds, pick a straw. Blow through the straw.

Pick two of the same size straws and blow through them.

You do LESS work. That's why you GAIN hp with LESS restriction!!!

You're thinking of air SPEED vs WORK.

the air will flow faster -but there will be LESS air.

If you pinch a water hose, you'll get LESS water, but it will come out faster, meanwhile the hose PRESSURE increases. The strain is GREATER on the hose the FASTER the water comes out!!!

Exhuast Decision

i have a black v6er and i want that sound that everyone craves and if possible horsepower
i am
getting a littlebit from everone possible and then i will make my decision on what to do with my stock exhaust.
are there any h and x pipes that will give a more aggressive sound.
or am i just better off with getting spend alot of money with dual exhaust with buying a new bumper getting it welded, and the exhsuast kit.

Not so sure, if your theory is correct then a smaller exhaust would give you more power? Free flowing on the front and rear is a good thing.

The V6's need more back pressure than V8's do. On a stock V6 duels will do very little and more than likley will hurt your performance. It helps after some of the major mods are done.

h-X pipes have a neglible effect on sound quality. That's determined by the mufflers.

There's a difference between power and torque, and a lot of the difference is mediated by the cam and Headers.

The horsepower and torque are related by a mathematical equation at which they are equal at 5500 RPM. The explanation is posted elsewhere, and I don't have time to research and post it again.

Torque is twisting force, horsepower is power.

a freer flowing exhaust allows you to make more power, but you can't make the power if the cam won't let you.

Headers pulse back towards the combustion chamber and equalize the pressure in the cylinderheads, which is why you want them as equal as possible. H-Pipes & X-pipes do the same thing.

Backpressure ensures there is enough air in the cylinder to create a more explosive combination at low RPMs that creates more torque.

At high RPMs the back pressure impedes the air from escaping the cylinderhead, choking the combustion.

They don't need MORE backpressure, they need less diameter, because the displacement is smaller.

The cam doesn't allow the engine to make enough hp, to make the tradeoff between hp & tq a good one.
