So i finally got my car dyno'd and I'm a bit disappointed with the numbers. I have O/R Xpipe, CAI, AED Race Tune, Axle Back and the numbers where 381rwhp 368rwtq. I had it dyno'd on a Dyno Jet at the elevation of 5,000 feet. Not to sure if all that would make that big of a difference. I have seen on threads on multiple forums 5.0 with similar mods having roughly 420+

yeah about a 3% loss for every 1000 ft of elevation...so a 15% adjustment?

381 X 1.15 = 438

Feel any better?

Wallace Racing - Braking HP Loss at Altitude Calculator
Your spot on man - no worries here.
This will give you an idea. You have to figure BHP but I think at sea level you would dyno around 435-440 Hp.

You can go even further with DA correction and dyno correction factors but I think you'll find the dyno is a good measuring stick of progress

Your maybe looking at 340rwhp stock. You've probably added 40rwhp minimum with your mods which is huge. 30 with CAI/tune and 10 with the ORX.

Axle backs won't add much power but just like my flow masters your SLP are probably about 20 pounds lighter than stock muffs. I save 19 lbs with that mod.

This should make you feel better also.
My Dynojet numbers are 419 rwhp and 399 rwt.
The elevation in Richmond, VA is 250 ft.
Based on those numbers yours looks pretty good.

Gutted

Just had my 2012 5.0 dynoed today and I was gutted big time. I had suffered power loss since my first service. My vehicle is stock aside from a K&N CAI and it runs 3.55 ratio in the rear. I have been trying to get the stealership to recognize the power loss but they can't find an issue. To be fair, it runs well, but it had a firmware reboot at the first service and was never the same again. So I finally had it run on a dyno and this is what I got...

394hp @ 5543rpm.... (that's crank, and not rear wheel)
[email protected] 4847rpm....

I had a sct tune and it made zero difference. It caused all sorts of problems with the ecu so I removed it. The K&N filter does not require a tune and claims 20 rwhp. I think a bit ambitious but even with a 5 hp increase over stock it would put me 25 odd hp behind the 412 benchmark. To be honest....it feels like I am missing 30-40 hp.
I live in a very hot climate...granted. But I run on 98 octane and it is at sea level.
Am I imagining things or am I just p**ssed my numbers are in Toyota land? Looking for validation here.
Oh....temp was 32dg C or 90F 40% humidity.
I feel the shame of the numbers on the wrong side of 400.

Unless you had your engine pulled any dyno readings are at the rear wheels, not the crank. 394 rwhp is very respectable. Peak hp @ 5543rpm is odd though, so I would question the accuracy of the dyno you used.

Your dyno sheet indicates your numbers are SAE corrected, meaning that that is what your engine theoretically would have put out at sea level. The power they actually measured at your altitude was much less.

honestly who cares for numbers. How does you're car make you feel is the better question. If you don't like it then get rid of it. If it makes you happy then who cares. If you are after numbers (and thats not necessarily a bad thing), save your money and go SC. they make tons of power on this powertrain. For me my car makes me happy so its right for me and Im stock power wise.

O and the 5.0 delivers when seriously modded. So it could be the dyne calibration so the car could be making more power than the dyne thinks.
