I have a 2011 v6 mustang manual transmission and just took it to get dynod. 278 HP and 255 tq to the wheels. I have an airaid intake, bbk tb, shorty headers, and a 91r Bama tune. I also have axlebacks and was told that doesn't add anything but sound and I have 3.55:1 gears. If I get an off road x pipe with cat back exhaust what more gains should I see? I'm trying to get 300hp to wheels without a 93r Bama tune since it is my daily driver. Would the single piece drive shaft from @americanmuscle help lower the drive train loss any? Any other advice would be appreciated.

The O/R X-pipe will net a nice gain (14-16 RWHP), the driveshaft might be worth a coupe and I don't think the catback would add much of anything.

The 93R tune would probably add some over your current 91R tune since they would be able to run more timing in the car.

I agree, either an O/R X or ported manifolds should get you there or very close. The X pipe would be the less expensive solution. There might be 1-2 more hp if you went with 93 octane, but maybe more if you datalog and get things dialed in.

I did get another 4-5whp with my custom catback but also lost some tq below 3,000 rpm.
I'd disagree on exhaust making much hp, the modern engines are tuned so well that they are not like the old V8s where they were literally thrown together...don't get caught up in dyno numbers, your car makes what my Cobra made when it left dearborn...a 300hp Mustang was the joy of the Motoring Press back then

thoes numbers are not to bad tbh..
I wouldn't get too hung up on the peak numbers, You'll beat cars that have higher peak horse power (within a range) if you have a nice usable powerband and traction of course! With those mods those numbers seem about right, the TB really doesn't add to much up top, mainly down low through mid i thought. An offroad x would definately get you closer to 300.

Did you go from 2.73s to 3.55s? I was going to sweet talk the wife into letting me swap to them around christmas, you like em?

Like stated don't get caught up on dyno numbers......the only real numbers are the ones you measure in feet like 1320. Did you ever get a baseline dyno run done? If not it is kinda hard to compare then.

Also Cali gas will cost ya a few ponies.
I agree your dyno numbers aren't bad at all. Plus as others said, dyno numbers are just a reference for comparing cars, they're not a true indication of how fast a car is. However, if you're looking to pick up more power, I would go with an O/R Xpipe like you mentioned. That should help squeeze out a few more ponies!

. . . I'm trying to get 300hp to wheels . . .
why?

Not bad. My butt dyno says my car is making 270ish.

I disagree about the cat-back not helping. I was looking at my stock pipes in my garage yesterday and they're pretty constrictive in comparison. IMO a catback will free up some power and will contribute to the whole system as you continue to mod.

It will, especially if you open up the exhaust from the headers back like you stated. There's other mods that have a way better performance to dollar ratio, that's why alot of folks say that. I was considering getting the lethal o/r x pipe, but atleast need some different mufflers than the stock to make the sound half way decent. I may be biting the bullet too...

I know what you mean. You could easily spend $5k on various bolt-on mods or just drop $5-6k on a procharger and have a much faster car. That's why I mainly concentrated on "supporting mods" because IMO the best bang for the buck is a procharger.

Your biggest enemy is drive terrain loss. I recommend a driveshaft, it will not add HP but let you feel and use more of what you have. On a dunno you will see a small gain as well because of better power transfer

Yeah I hear ya. Gotta support the new power! With that power you'll need a new clutch and flywheel, etc. By the time you get everything setup with the procharger, you're most likely over the cost of a base GT already. I spent 21k on my V6 new. From a base model stock - 5-6K$, plus supporting mods, then installation...easily 10k which puts me at 31k for essentially the same power on a platform built for it with a warranty. Ask some of the procharger guys, most of them are more than 10k deep. Just my opinion, but you'd be unique..but unique come's with a price! I'm perfectly content with my NA V6 and just add bolt-ons would be a quick enough dd for me.

Same here, I'd love to have a procharged car but I know after a few weeks, I'd want to up the boost and then the whole cycle starts again. I'm honestly content with 300hp, I'm still amazed at how much technology has progressed. I've got muscle car looks and power but economy car gas mileage which is exactly why I bought my car. I had never considered a mustang, much less a V6 base but you really can't beat the combo of fun and practicality.

AM got 8 hp after installing the Axle Exchange, so that is something. I noticed mine moving up through the rpms a bit quicker

Well looks like I'm gonna save up for drive shaft and off road x pipe and see what I produce at the dyno. Thanks everyone

Well Said J! I agree 100%. I have had big blocks that made 400+ HP that were not as much fun to drive. I am finally getting my 373s put in this week. I can hardly wait!!!:bounce2:
