Early or late 1965 mustang

G'day,

I notice that there are various parts that differ for early or late 1965 Mustang. The build date on my VIN is 06K. Would this make my car an early or late model?

Thanks,

John

Hi Mate,
My take on this.....
My mustang has build date of May '64 and is considered an early model. What I've learned of the years, those musangs assembled from March of 1964 and lasting until late August of 1964 are considered "early" models. Where it gets a little crazy/hazy, is toward the end of that period, models could begin to have a mix of both early and late parts. However, they are all registered as 1965. We have added to the confusion for novice owners by referring to the "early" cars as 64 1/2.
Happy Motoring....

I have a 13 July 1964 6 cylinder convertible built in San Jose. And yes this car has some parts on it that are not found on 1965's. Brakes, generator and body parts etc.
brake spring

Hey, can anyone help? Im replacing the drum rear brakes and the bottom spring broke. I bought the hardware kit, however the spring in that kit is not the same and bent wrong way. I cant make it fit. I've looked at all the hardware kits and could not find one that looks like the old one.
