Edelbrock Heads and Camshaft

Hey all,

What would you estimate that I would gain by installing Edelbrock E-Street Heads (1.90" intake) and an XE268H cam. Engine is a 351w with a performer intake and a 600cfm carb and hooker headers.

Thanks.

hi;

its kinda hard to guess and it will be different if you are adding an intake and/or headers too. if you just add those parts to a stock system and keep the compression the same you might gain around 30 hp. you likely need to mill those heads around .028" to increase your compression close to what it was. this will help.
I agree with the above!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edelbrock is not bad stuff, but not real good either in terms of what you get for the $.
So the consensus is, is that a 351w with a performer eps intake (I know its not the best), a 600cfm carb, hooker headers with a full dual exhaust would ONLY gain 30hp with Edelbrock E-street heads and an XE268H cam?
Go back and read, that's not what he said.

what is an eps?. why do you say its not the best? why dont you simply tell us exactly what you want as far as performance and how much money you have to get there. hp numbers are useless unless you know what they really mean. everybody wants 400 hp out of a 302 and think it can be done for 3500.00 or less because they saw it on youtube. ahhh. ha. ha.
Yeah I read, and his answer as he said was for a stock engine, however I listed a few upgrades made to the engine and was clarifying if he understood the other parts that I had already installed on the engine....
An eps is the non-RPM performer intake. I wanted to know what I would get out of specifically that camshaft and those set of heads, thats all.
I also don't have a very specific hp number in mind. I do understand how misunderstood hp numbers are and I do understand how its not everything. I wanted to know what power I could gain with those parts because I think those would be good parts that suit my applications and current budget.

well i already answered that question. we can help you if you help us. i as well as others here know these parts and engines very well.. so what is the cc of your eddy heads? is your existing engine a factory 2 or 4 barrel? exactly what mods are on your engine now? if you have 2.80 or 3.00 gears you are wasting your time and money on those parts imo. heads
Ok, so the combustion chambers are 60cc on new eddys, the engine is a factory 2 barrel with the 2V heads, and I am unsure about the rear end but I know its not stock. I know that I would want to swap it out later maybe for a 3.73. Thanks.

jesus...does it have headers?
Ok....yes the aforementioned topics include my mentioning of hooker headers on the car.

I was drinking water when I read that and it went down the wrong way and I was choking and laughing at the same time.

You did not say specifically that the headers were on the car, that is why was asking.

Your cam and heads are not on the car so I prefer to ask and not guess.

If you have carb, intake and headers on the car and your current heads are stock and you are ADDING the heads and cam only, then my guess is you might gain around 40 hp if your pistons are flat top.

if your pistons are dished then that cam is too big.

i would mill .028" off those heads to increase the compression but you might need 91-93 octane then.
