Does anyone know if a 40amp relay kit will work with the taurus fan. The relay I have is from the proseries fan I used. It has the thermostat 185* on and 170* off, 40amp relay, here's a picture of the one I have thanks:smartass:

Those fans draw about 30-33 amp. Startup is a different story. You might need a progressive controller like one of the Flex-a-lites or DCC controller. Some say the taurus fan draws up to 90 amps at startup. But i haven tried one Make sure your wires are up to it.
That one will work just fine
The taurus stock uses two 40 amp relays in parallel. I dont think I would trust one single 40amp for any period of time. Not on my cooling system.
The lincoln mark VII uses 40 amp draw and 50 amp spike. SO you need 2 30a relays in parrallel. That is what I have. The Mark VII and taurus fan run 30A and spike 40a a 40 should be fine.
Im just telling you what the Taurus fans use from the factory. Which is 2 40 amps. The 4 wheel guys use this fan alot. And they report up to a 90 amp draw on startup. Some just use a 75 amp bosch relay. Some relays have an amp suppresion. Some dont. Better safe than sorry in my opinion.

Some report a different amp spike of only around 45. So who is one to believe? LOL It all depends on the overall picture. If the wiring is not up to snuff, that makes things even worse. If the fan is worn out, that makes it worse.

If I had one, I would test the amp draw myself. Some one needs to.

Right I agree. They normally pull 40a on initial start then level to 30. They ofcourse can be way more but thats usually do to drag. Most likely those fans are about done. I run 2 30a on a mark vii fan which is over the mark viii or taurus by 30% they work just fine. I too recommend the dc controller but sounds like you better go to the link on the front page of the talk sect and write down his # if you buy one. Ive seen alot of people complian of not getting theres until they call.

So you are saying that this relay kit is OK but use a 75amp. So do I wire the high and low speed wire together

I'm looked at the bosch 75amp relay and it will not fit into the relay I have it does'nt have the 4 plugs. Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the 75amp relay. Or would it be easier to just take the wires from my 40amp relay and wire them into the 75amp relay. Any suggestions.... thanks :worship

here is the 75amp relay

You cant do that you have to use the correct size wires for the 75 amp relay. If it were me Id use what you got. If it blows the fuse buy another 40 amp to run with it.
Right, for that relay you would need to upgrade the wires for it to do its job correctly. 12gauge would be fine. Thats rated at about 37-38 amp continuous in a engine bay.
I just found a 70amp relay with 4 poles will this work or just stick with the 75amp. thanks:worship

here is the 70amp

I would go with a 75amp 4 pole relay. If you use the 70 and try to install in you relay socket. The wires might not be able to handle the amp. The 75 you pictured looks like a 4 pole relay from the diagram on the front.
Thanks for all your help guys!!! :worship
I think I will go with the 40amp parallel setup, is it OK to use a 40amp for the low and a 50amp for the high speed. Do you just connect each speed to one realy and wire each one to the same source or relay to relay and then to each speed. How is it done I have no idea thanks :smartass:

Do a search for taurus fan wiring in google. Then click on "images" up top. It will give you a few diagrams to look at. A lot easier than me trying to explain it. Specially if you are trying to use both speeds seperately.
