I was reading in a post listed on this site before about removing the smog pump, cats, and tube at the head and cap off.My question is what vacuum line/s do I need to keep and do I just cap off where the thing is thats in the way when you try to change your plugs.Sorry for the lack of part words but I came from old cars before all this crap. Thanks so much for the help.

That's all you have to do, cap off the tube at the back of the heads and the one at the mid pipe under the car. If you remove the smog pump, just take off the hoses and parts coming from it.
