Engine coolant levels

Ive noticed that my engine coolant level is just at the minimal lvl of the cold fill range last weekend. I coulda sworn the last time i checked it was well above the min line, prob 50%+. (3700 miles) I hope there isnt a leak.

What is ur coolant lvl and mileage?

I got my car a couple of weeks after you did (lived on that who ordered a 2012 thread for weeks, LOL) and have 11,300 miles.... My coolant level is right on target.

Are you occasionally smelling coolant when the engine has been run for a while?

I am in my 2004 F150 and am almost down to the cold fill level on that (110k miles, fully flushed and refilled April 2011), but I'm not finding any evidence of a possible leak anywhere.

i wouldnt know what coolant is suppose to smell like anyways lol. The thing is that i dont take long drives, the longest probably 1hr 1/2 or so.
I've had my car a year and a half and 11000 km and my coolant level is the same as when I got it. I would be worried.
If think there might be an issue then put a shapie mark at the current coolant level then watch it for a week or so and see if it drops. Just remember to check it with the coolant at the same temp every time.
Take it to the Ford dealer and have them pressure check your cooling system, should be able to tell you right away if you have a problem.

Mine to.. Before I left yesterday to go out of town for training; I looked at mine and it was at the minimal line. I could have swore mine was in between the lines last week also.

Hey StreetofNY,

I can get this escalated to the Customer Service Manager for your area and help resolve it. Please make an appointment with your dealer and PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number so I can help.

Air temps will affect the level too. If you had looked at the level in 90 deg temps and a warm engine it will be a good bit higher than 60 deg day and cold engine. I wouldn't go to the dealer yet but monitor it if it continues to drop then bring it in (.02) all bets off if you like going to the dealer. :shigrin

Did you put any effort into monitoring it to see if it is actually losing coolant? Or are were you just waiting for somebody else to tell you that you should be worried?
Believe it or not, my engine coolant level has increased. It is about 1/3- 1/4 above the min line now. I checked first thing in the morning before use. I know that the level will rise after use of the car. Hmmm
