i have a 1992 lx 5.0 , the car is basically stock except for cai , flowmasters , catted h pipe , msd cap and rotor and wires. The car runs really nice , engine doesnt make any weird noises and is very solid.Powersteering pump wines a lil bit and serp belt tentioner makes a lil noise but thats it. Im a bit of a nut when it comes to my cars sometimes over thinking things, but while the engine is idling in the garage with the hood up maybe once every 10 mins it will make a pretty solid single crack noise that i cannot pinpoint where it is coming from , other than it sounds pretty metallic. It does not make any cooling down noises coming from the exhaust with it not running but only will make the noise with it running , either hot or warming up randomly, but not often at all and you have to listen for it and sometimes it wont do it at all. I have read that a radiator could make this noise due to heating up and expanding and making a crack sound that comes from the metal tank area, (might be an original radiator due to it a ford branded part. Does this happen to anyone else and is it something i should worry about?
