i just had my engine riped down to the block because i had a blown head gasket. i got the heads rebuilt since they were off but now my car runs like a bag of a$$. ive tripple checked to make sure the wire were correct. so i dont think thats the problem but the engine is shakey and runs like crap. somebody please help
yea the distributer was out. it only wants to run when the timing is way advanced compared to where it used to be. im thinking it could also be a bad plug or wire. i just changed the plugs a few months back but i could have cracked one or something. if i have the the dist gear one knotch off would it still run "like how it is" or would it not run at all
It'll still run, you can try resetting it. If it's one tooth off, the position will be different than what you might be used to, it might look more advanced or retarded depending on which way it's off.
I would check for a vacuum leak. I had a rough running engine and it turned out to be a vacuum leak and i too thought it was an ignition problem. Take some carb. cleaner and get to spraying. Check the EGR really good for leaks because that is where mine was and it ran real rough and actually showed up as an ignition problem on a scope.
