I have a carbed 89 hatchback and when it runs at idle the tempurature gets up to around 200F. its a basically stock motor besides the carb conversion. im currently using a thermosat and the stock 5.0 rad. Should i upgrade it to a 2 or 3 core rad?

I have an Aluminum 3-cor rad with a thermostat controlled adjustable Black Magic pull fan and she runs real cool, also try Redline Water Wetter, good stuff and will help reduce temps. Its also possible that you have a lot of build-up of sludge and could use a flush. A lot of folks don't recommend flushes because it can create leaks but if your thinking of a new rad, then I would definitely consider it.
200 is not hot with a stock thermostat. The stock thermostat is 197 degrees. 200 is perfectly fine. Your engine is more efficient there anyway. You want colder air, not a colder block...
200 is a little hot,the stock t-stat is a 192 but it ends up running around 195.

A stock 3 core rad with a 180 t-stat with
electric fans will run around 188-190
That's what you want.
Just my two cents:happyhapp
