I had my hood open because I was working on something else on my engine and after closing it and driving for a bit I heard a tapping or "knocking". I opened my hood again and still heard it. It actually sounds as if I was really low on oil or almost had no oil at all, although when I pulled the oil dipstick twice the oil level read a little more than full. Any ideas on what it could be? This only happens sometimes?sCO_uhm.gif

When do you hear it? Does it only happen under load? Is the car hot or cold? Steady or intermittent?

Happens whens its hot and its not always knocking its only happened 2 times since i bought the car sunday. It happens when i drive and when i am looking at the engine when the cars on. Only happens here and there not all the time though.. and not an exhaust leak.

hmm..lifter sticking? rockers loose? does it have roller rockers they tend to clatter a lil more then stock ones could be what your hearing.

Dont know, I cant physically see them haha. Now its always knocking as long as im driving when the cars hot..sCO_uhm.gif

could be coming lose, im just saying cause thats what happend to mine. had to pull the valve cover and take the slack out.

You did check the oil while the engine wasn't running correct?

yes and i checked it after the engine was on too and its still a little higher than the full mark.
