Hey Larry-

Good question here

There's a lot that can be done and I'll break it down like this:

Long Tube Headers will attach to a Shorty X or H Mid Pipe (They're typically X's)

Short Headers will attach to your factory mid pipe

If you're to purchase Long Tube Headers it's a great idea to purchase the same brand H-Pipe to ensure that they're going to be compatible and wont need to have them modified.

Will you need to purchase a CatBack Exhaust or an AxleBack?

The short answer is no but they will both improve the overall sound but the catback would only see a minimal gain in HP whereas the Axelback's typically wont yield any gain.
