exhaust manifold question.

my passenger side exhaust manifold has a crack in it and a new one is $122 so i think im gonna try and weld it. my question- Is the manifold cast or not before i try to weld it. and would it be worth the extra work and money to put a set of headers on? and what all would i need to put headers on and where can i find them the cheapest?

im not sure on the welding but from what i read changing to aftermarket headers will stop the crack from forming again... the crack gets there because the ac drips on the headers when there hot... plus youll gain a little giddy up and be shining up the under the hood.
search header reviews...

i think i might have an a crack in my manifold too due to a leak from the headers but i was wondering what kind of proformance problems come from this?
Depending on the size of the crack, you likely have an exhaust leak at the worst possible place in the exhaust system. Instead of the exhaust flowing nicely out the tailpipe, it's spitting out of your header and ruining your flow. I'm not sure exactly what kind of performance loss you're looking at, but I'm sure someone will chime in shortly and give an estimate on that.
Clittle, I'll check my old manifold for cracks and if it's crack free, I'll hook you up with it. Itll be like $20 or so to ship. So either way, you can have a backup.
This is my stock one from my 2000. No visible cracks or anything. Is this what youre after?
