I'm going to swap the exhaust on my 2014 mustang v6 (manual fwiw) and I'm torn based on reading things on this forum. I liked the sound of the Magnaflow Comp cat-back and thought that was what I was going to go with until I started reading how so many people hate them and recommended the FRPP axle-backs instead. The Magnaflows sound great on the american muscle site, but someone referred to them as sounding like a "wailing cow" on one of the threads I saw on here. So does anybody have them and like them? Do they sound as throaty and deep and loud as American Muscle makes them seem on the site. Would you recommend something different to get that almost (don't hate me for putting it this way) V8 sound. Please don't comment "if you want it to sound like a v8, you should have bought one" stuff either, its not helpful.

If you want a V8 sound for your V6, I would go with either Roush axle backs (loud and throaty as hell, but some pretty noticeable drone) or Borla S-type axle backs. Everything sounds different in person than it does in videos. I had the Roush on my 2012 and it sounded phenomenal! For my 2014 I bought the Borla S-type; supposedly a bit quieter than the Roush, but deeper, and with no drone.

Here's my 2012 with the Roush exhaust doing a baby burnout. :) Make sure you turn the quality to 1080p in the settings on youtube to get the most realistic sound possible.

no way a v8 sound will come from a v6...

also i still havent really found an exhaust set up i like for the 3.7 other then stock mufflers with long tubes and a catted x pipe..

i currently have bbk long tubes off road x pipe and pypes pipe bombs and its pretty annoying but i need that open exhaust because racecar.

Short tube headers, H-Pipe and Borla S-Types or Magnaflow Streets. I myself think unless you plan on supercharging or running a turbo the stock over the Axle pipes flow fine.
Everyone is going to have a different opinion.
I myself have BBK Short tubes, FRPP Cut and Clamp X-Pipe and Borla Touring Axle backs and to me it is perfect.
My You Tube link is over under East Tennessee if you want to hear mine <<<<<<<.

I have Bassani axle backs and an airaid CAI and to me it sounds good. Look for my threads for my review. I won't tell you you should have got a V8 but I will tell you it won't sound like one. Mine sounds like a well tuned European V6 with a bit of burble. Be careful most aftermarket systems for the V6 have some drone. Go to car meets/cruises to hear them in person

+1 exactly the drone and loud at crusing can get old real quick if you do a lot of highway driving.

I can say the FRPP touring is fairly quiet under 3000 rpm then has nice bark above, little drone at low rpms around 1700 in 6th gear so I just avoid that.

I just had the Borla S-Types installed on a 2013 V6 and it's a nice medium volume. Definitely louder than stock but not too bad. I had considered the ATAKs and I'm glad I ended up with the S-Types.

They are noticeable in terms of tone / volume when starting up, getting on it, etc. but if I'm just cruising along the highway in 5th or 6th there is no additional noise (that I notice). If you have a habit of keeping your foot a little bit on the gas instead of on and off you may get some drone, but I honestly don't notice any more noise than the stock system cruising and I don't hear it over road noise, radio, etc.

I would get it again. It's a great system. When shifting you get a nice little popping / gurgle sound. Puts a smile on my face every time. Hope this helps :)

Thanks everyone for their input. I can deal with a little drone, its not a daily driver. Just hoping for the deepest and moderately loud (just not ridiculous) and mostly just making sure that no one hears it coming around the corner and wonder what this rice bucket will look like when it makes the turn. Still leaning towards the magnaflow comp cat-back. Has anyone heard them in person?

I have Borla S type as well, they definitely sound great when you step on it, never had drone issues with them, and at cruising speeds pretty much sounds like stock. Would definitely recommend to any one.

I would not call the drone from the Comps Little, more like the drone from hell.
I had them on for a week, wife would not even get in the car after she heard it.
My 50 minute drive home from work would actually give me a headache.

Has anybody had the magnaflow street catbacks? From what I've read they have little to no drone. Just curious if they have the same deep tone as the comp series.
Sure do and I love the way they sound.:bigthumbsup I haven't heard any drone out of mine. Not sure about the comparison to the comp series.
