I've come past some people asking about Explorer cylinder heads for their mustang, is this possible? Also, what are the pros and cons and is it a direct replacement? I have been thinking about changing mine, just curious.

Thanks

yes it is possible and yes they are a direct replacement for the stock heads.both the gt-40 and gt-40p's will out flow the stock heads by far.the explorer heads are the same heads that come on the 93-94 cobra's.

The Explorer has what's called GT40P heads, and on the later years the spark plug was relocated, meaning when used in the Mustang you have to get P specific headers for the least amount of trouble with burned boots and spark plug access. Should you do this swap, make sure you learn the year of the heads so you can be ahead of the game. But yes, you can use the Explorer heads and they're lots better than the stock Mustang heads. You can use the intake from the Explorer too.
