Finally ordered 2013 GT

Well, I finally decided to order a 2013 Mustang GT premium. There were no GT's in my area that matched my preferences so I ended up ordering it. The dealer said the car should arrive in "about 8 weeks". Besides the options I ordered with the car, I also wanted illuminated door sills. The dealer said this is a dealer installed option and they will be installed by them when the car arrives. I thought they were installed at the factory. Can anyone give me some insight on this? I can't wait for the car to arrive... this is going to be a long couple months....:smoke:

I know mine had it, and I didn't order it to be installed. I think the Premiums come with that standard. I may be wrong though.

Congrats on the car. You will love it. I know I love mine.
Congrats on ordering a car, the waiting is a real drama but in the end I thought it was worth it to get exactly what I wanted.

I thought the lighted sills were going to have to be installed too, but they came with my '12 GT Premium, a very pleasant delivery day surprise. My dealer was very knowledgeable and kept me in the loop at every step, but I just assumed and never thought to ask. So unless they've changed things for '13, you should be good. :bigthumbsup

Sadly, most salesman, especially at larger dealerships, aren't anywhere near as informed about the cars as we are.

The lighted sills are part of the premium package. They are installed at the factory. Be sure you aren't charged extra for them by the dealer. Congrats on the car. Mine took 8 weeks to the day. Well worth the wait!

I went to the "Build your Mustang" on the Ford website and it did say it was a dealer installed accessory. Maybe it started for the 2013's. I was hoping it was factory installed. Hopefully the person who installs it @ the dealership know's what he's doing, and the dealer dosen't charge me some outrages installation charge...:nono: Thanks for your imput... the people on this site are very helpful.:bigthumbsup

It is NOT installed by the dealer if you have a premium. I got my. '13 GT back in June. Car delivered with the lighted sills. It was NOT listed as an option on my Window sticker. It IS part of the GT premium package.

Congratulations!! Be prepared for any delays to your ETA... 8 weeks seems to be the average wait time, but from what I've read, there is a tendency for delay.

As for the door sills, I asked about it in the 2013 order thread.. As the others have said, it comes with the premium package. What scares me is that the dealers don't even know, and they will tell you that it's a dealer-installed option.

It shows up on the website as an accessory, but it won't show up on the window sticker or anything. As the others have said - make sure they don't charge you extra for it.

Hopefully your dealer is good about giving you information; especially your salesperson. :bigthumbsup

Congrats! Now get in the "waiting for my car" line with the rest of us! :bigthumbsup

There is a thread on 2013 Mustang Orders that you might find informative, and a way to help ease pain of waiting.

2013 Mustang GT Illuminated door sills

I called the dealer today informing him what the 2013 Mustang GT product guide said about the illuminated door sills beign installed at the factory on the Premium. At first he swore they were installed at the dealer. After going back and forth for a few minites, I finally got fed up and ended the call. He called me back a few minites later saying he looked it up and said in fact they WERE installed @ the factory. I swear some of the sales people don't know crap about the cars they are selling.:nono:

Congrats on ordering the new Stang:bigthumbsup

Unless there is an issue of some kind with supply (hearing that the Canadian Auto Workers are going on strike-the engines are built in Canada) 8 weeks is about right.

You will notice as it gets closer to your eta that everywhere you turn you will see a newer Mustang, almost like they are taunting you. Do not worry, this is perfectly normal:gringreen

Congrats on your new order, Brisoup! As bicketybam mentioned, they are installed at the factory. Also, you can PM me with your dealer's name and order number so I can help you track it.

Recieved VIN

I just recieved my VIN today from the dealer.:) It means my Mustang is going to be a reality!!Tried to look up the VIN on Research Maniacs.com to see if I have a window sticker yet. It's not available yet but from what I understand, a sticker is not available until about one week before the build.

Well, today I officially became a Mustang owner!!! I picked my GT in time to drive it home, put it in the garage, then go to work for my 12 Hr shift..... Oh well, at least I got it. I'll have plenty of time to drive it later... Here is a couple of quick pics I took before I put her away. More detailed pics will come later!!
