First Engine Pull, 1986 Mustang LX

So I pulled the 302 out of my '86 lx. I would like to sandblast the engine bay as well as the rest of the car, but for the price I got, I am debating buying a sandblaster and an air compressor big enough to run it. I figure while the engine is out, I should change the oil pan and valve cover gaskets as it leaks quite a bit of oil. I relaly don't have the money for a total rebuild, but I'd like to do what I can. After seeing all the connections and stuff I took off to get it out, I'm actually a little nervous about putting it back. Any suggestions on what I can do to freshen it up now that it's out. Most of my money will probably be sunken into the body.

I just used a wire wheel and drill along with a sander. It worked great. However be sure to fill all the holes with some bondo. I sure wish I would have.:bigthumbsup Too late now but I video recorded mine as I pulled it so I could go back and see if I wasnt sure.
I've spent many an hour using a 4hp sears compressor and a sand blaster. Works GREAT! Makes a HUGE mess! Sand all over the place when your done. Just a warning. :winks
I know that you don't want to put a huge amount of money into the engine with a total rebuild, but since it is out you my want to tear it apart for inspection. I know where I'm at, you can get a complete gasket kit and piston rings for less than $200 for a 302. It is a little more time, but very little more money. This will also help solve all leaks, help gas mileage, improve power a little, and help prevent your engine going south right after you put it back in causing you to take it right back out. If you are already there, do it right!

I know, but my only worry is that after measuring, I may find taht my cylinders are out of round, or something else does not add up and I wind up with an $1000 machine bill
