1399 Views 20 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  mattsadagursky
so this new pony is a v6 2000, and it got diferent tires in rear and front:

front is: rims are 16 225/55 (very thick tire)

rear is: rims 19 (sorry forgot the size but is really thin tire)

i want to change the thick tire in the rear and the thinner in the front if possible but is the thin tire support the engine?

p.d. sorry for my bad english, i will take a picture later and post it so you can help me :)

tires

the front tires are little too big and the back tires can be bigger but the bigger or wider i should say the less power if you don’t upgrade the engine. a good idea is to only go one size smaller or bigger
like if you still want the 19s on the back put 18 low pro tires on the front and 19 225 45or55 on back will be ok and the engine can handle it but may lose a little power.
i put 17 65 225 all around my car looked great and everything but now with my lowering kit the front tires are too tall and rub sometimes and the back tires could be wider for more traction. Im looking at changing to 17 35 215 on the front and 18 55 245 But I have a lot of aftermarket upgrades on my engine
hope that helped with the answer.

To put it simple.

Originally your front tires were on the rear. But they were rotated.

Put the fronts on the back and the back on the front. That styling is called staggered. It's a sought after look in the muscle car world.

When tires are offset they sent suppose to be rotated from back to front

Wide tires in the rear. Narrow in the front. Gives it the drag car look.

And if you do put wide tire on the back ad narrow one up front don't rotate them front to back

Yep. Don't do that unless you want to look retarded.

You can put the rear tires on the front. But it'd look bad.

sure, you could swap them front to back. it may look better with the meatier tire in the back. also that 16 inch wheel has a wider tire on it and its probably a better idea to have in the back. but either way, i think you really need to start saving money and get properly sized wheels and tires. you can probably find a set of stock 15 or 16 inch wheels on craigslist easily for very cheap

Ya I would suggest saving some money to get a full set of rims that actually match. That just looks silly my friend.
About a grand for a nice set of rims and tires

My rims costed me $250. And the guy even repainted them for me.

New tires were $551.

Look in www.craigslist.com in auto parts.

ill sell you a full set of stock 03 rims with tires 500 plus shipping! But seriously did anyone notice the rear rims are 19s while the fronts are 16s, so switching the fronts with rears would not go over well as rears are aftermarket and fronts are atleast close to stock size.

Get a set of matched rims on craiglist, or let me know.

yes, i did notice, as long as the overall height of the tire is close it wont be so huge of a problem until he can get new matching wheels.
