Does anyone know offhand if the bolts I took out of my 3 speed flywheel can be used to bolt on my AOD flexplate? They seem a little too long. Are they two different sizes? Are the flexplate bolts shorter? Thanks.

3 speed manual or c4/fmx/c6? Should interchange with auto transmissions but measure the depth of the hole in the crank and add the thickness of the flexplate(where the bolts go through and the bolt must be shorter than the sum of the measurements by ?? 1/10th inch

The flywheel for the 3 speed manual is a lot thicker than the flexplate for the AOD. My bolts have 3/4 inch of threads, then about 1/4 inch of shoulder before the bolt head. No washers or spacers when I took off the flywheel. So if I use the same bolts, I would need some 1/4 inch spacers to take up the space of the non-threaded shoulders? This sounds great, but I don't think there is that much space between the flexplate and the tc for the spacer and the head of the bolt. I think I'll just go get some 3/4 inch bolts. Thanks.

The flywheel does not use a spacer under the head of the bolts, this is a reinforcement part for the flexplate assembly called a stiffener, used on the small block ford engines. I think it is about 1/16" thick, so you should look for the correct bolts, they should be a grade 8, and they have to be torqued to spec. Good Luck.
