I know this topic has come up before. But here it goes, i have a 68 coupe with 50 series flowmasters- the older style non Delta flow. and my problem is that it is LOUD. it sounds great but it is really loud at idle and drones at cruise- 3200 RPM. It is especially loud at 5:30 in the morning when i take it to work. I dont want to wake up all of my neighbors and kill my hearing anymore than it already is. Does anyone think that the new style flowmaster 50 series delta flow, or magnaflows will quiet this engine down a bit. my engine is a 351W with AFR heads, Edelbrock perf. rpm cam and manifold, 750 holley, 2800 stall converter, 2 1/4" Exhaust with an H pipe. thanks....

Just put FlowMasters on my 68 289- Dual Exhaust with Patriot Headers. It is LOOOOWWWDDDD. Much louder than my 56 Chev with a 327, Headers and Magnaflow... If I was to do it again, definately Magnaflow on the stang.

My dad has magnaflows on his truck. Theyre really mellow. Im not exactly sure on what model they are though.

I have 40 series flows on my stang. I noticed that when I put longtube headers on, it got alot quieter. I wonder if thats normal? Im thinking it might be b/c there isnt as much backpressure or something....but anyways...I would get magnaflow's if you want it more quiet.

I just put a set of Magnaflows 2.5 inch exhaust on my Stock 289 A Code. The sound is excellent and not to loud.

Make sure your exhaust goes all the way to the back of the car. If you stop at the Muffler/Hanger you will get more vibration and the sound will be considerably louder due to the fact that you are almost sitting on the exhaust exit. If you move the exit to the rear of the car the interior noise will be a lot less and the exhaust will not be reverberating off the floorpan/road as much. I hope that helps.

The 40 delta-flows are downright quiet, I know that much. That said I'm not a flowmaster fan and would pick nearly anything else, unless I had a 11:1 solid lifter car that just HAD to have that hollow tone and I'd go get some original 40 flows.
