Flowmaster vs. Magnaflow for my v6

Hey everyone,

Got a 2005 v6 (Trixie) and for a while I have been looking to invest in a dual exhaust system. I called up my local Ford dealership that does mods and the guy said exactly what I thought he'd say. They have the Magnaflow and Flowmaster exhaust kits for the 2005 v6 stang.

Now I am looking for that deep, throaty, v8 muscle sound, the one that turns heads. I was wondering whether anyone else had to make this decision, or does anyone have an 05 v6 with either on it? I have heard the clips from magnaflow, but none from Flowmaster (can't find any). I was wondering if anyone can help me out with what the Flowmaster will sound like, and what might be the better choice for my v6.

Thanks a lot,
Mark

Here you go hope this helps ..http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/sound.htmlI had the regular 40 flow when I got my v-6 and I now just got the super 40 flow the one in the classic black case man this baby even growls little more aggresive then the regualr 40 atleast to me anyways I love my super single flow .
Awesome, thanks. What about single exhaust options? Which ones sound best?
Flowmaster...but it will still just sound like a louder 6 cyl.

I'd look into some induction too. You'll never get the V8 sound with a 6, you can get nice sure, but the 8 sound comes from firing order and all that. That said, flowmaster and intake... a little intake roar never hurt anyone ;)
Yea , you won't get that v-8 sound but still think not too bad for the ole ' v6er  .
Thanks a lot, that's all I'm looking for really, a more throaty sound. I was told that the flowmmaster single cat back exhaust will sound great.

man, sound is totally subjective. try to find some clips, and see which you like best.
I want a new exhaust but I dont like either of the two choices currently offered. I think I will buy the left side GT pipe and hangers and build my own.

that won't work, you need equal sizes, and you'll look funny with a turndown on one side and straight on the other.

You'll need an adapter, and both tailpipes.

GT takeoffs are generally around $100 for both pipes.
Try the JBA Axleback - it's the closest sound to a V8 you will find. This could pass for a 60's small block V8 sound if you were not looking.
Who knows if you still need the help, but I just got the Magnaflow dual exhaust installed on my v6. It sounds completely amazing- a very deep growl, not high pitched at all. Definately turns heads, and looks great. The sound clips on the Magnaflow website don't do it justice.
I did, and thanks!
I had a flow master on my 4.0 V-6 before I traded up to the GT. There was an extremly annoying drone at 65+ mph. I do alot of highway driving and hated it after a while. Just my 2 cents.

Hi Mark. I use v8 muscle sound. I decided to use it and I think it is effective. :bigthumbsup
my 2 cents i have just put one GT500 muffler on my 06 mustang and it sounds awesome just with one on.
i love to hear it when i get on the freeway.
im putting the other one on soon and i know it will sound great.

it depends on the sound u r looking for i would go with the flowmaster instead of the magnaflow

the magnaflow sounds a little like a tunner for the V6

My brother has the magnaflow axle back ( I think thats what its called, has the rounded pipe and muffler tip, not a full cat back) on his 05 V6 and loves it sounds mean with the sct race tune. Not sure how much of that is the tune or the exhaust but it sounds great

magnaflows flow better than flowmasters

If you're looking for HP then go with Magnaflows. Also better warranty and sound in my opinion, of course sound is always personal taste... A buddy had his truck dyno done changing only flowmaster muffler to magnaflow and the magnaflow kicked butt!

Why was this old post "risen from the grave"? i'm sure he's not still looking for a muffler after 6 years... anyway my opinion is Flowmaster. Magnaflow is more of an import option in my opinion.
