Ford are you listening?

Ford, in case you monitor these sites I have something for you. I know we hear from Deysha and some others, but I doubt they have any input to marketing. I have a 2012 Black Brembo GT with all the options save for a glass roof. I’ve added some simple things like a grabber pony shift knob, GT500 exhaust and Lloyd’s pony floor mats. Due to the way I keep it, it gets a lot of attention. At gas stations and parking lots the thumbs up and people going out of their way to make superlative comments are countless. The people that ask to see it inside are much less, but when they do they are always shocked at how nice it is. When I tell them it has reverse camera, satellite radio, weather radar, GPS, heated seats, Pandora, plays MP3s and DVDs their jaw hits the floor. Why is everyone so surprised? Ford your marketing is obviously weak here! The name Mustang already speaks performance. Do you really need to concentrate 95% of your marketing on performance? Most of the general public is clueless to Mustang’s creature comforts. Just my .02 cents.

I would agree with that. I let a buddy of mine try out my '11 GT/CS and he was shocked at how "luxurious" it felt on the inside. He was extremely impressed/shocked with the quality look that they put in.
This is true. Just Friday night on the way to dinner in my Mustang a pal kept mentioning things his new Honda did, trying to one-up me. To each feature I was able to reply, "Yes, that's nice to have, mine does that too."

We were meeting a third pal at the resturant so the pal with me decided to send a text to say we were amost there. After fumbling with his new iPhone for over 2 minutes I said let me try, and pushed the steering wheel buttons and said "Call Dino" to which SYNC immediately replied "Calling Dino." The pal with me was like "I think my Honda is suppossed to do that, but I haven't figured out how to make it work yet."

Then after dinner as I was backing out of the parking spot my freind says "I really want one of those backup cameras on my next car." Biting my tongue as to not laugh, I rotated the rearview mirror towards him and said "You mean like this?"

It was all sorta priceless. :D

I would rather they spend a bit more money on putting their cars together better. A few pennies worth of glue would stop 90% of dashboard rattles. Spend a bit more time in assembly putting the interior together would do wonders for the plethora of fit and finish complaints.

My car has been in the dealership 9 times now for warranty repair work, and 7 of those times were for simple fit and finish issues that could easily have been taken care of at the factory if you would just spend a bit more effort into doing the job right the first time.

WOW, sorry to read that! I've got to believe though based on mine that's the exception and not the rule. I've been drving mine now for 19 months and 11k miles and have yet to experience the first rattle. The only fit and finish problem mine has is inside I can see the mold outline in the A pillar trim. For the longest time I thought that was extremely tacky of Ford quality control, but then I got in my Sister's $75k Mercedes and saw the very same thing.

Case in point I just saw the widely used "inner Mustang" commercial updated for the 2013 model and not a single image of the interior! Never noticed that before!
Yeah, the creature comforts are sweet, but I think its kind of sperate from the image Ford wants for the Mustang. I wonder how they'd meld them together.

I know people flip when they see the trim I have on mine. THe glass roof blows their minds. My buddy with the Caddy CTS was like "oh, I wish mine was like that."

I also get a little amustement out of the reaction from people I text message when they get the little "This message was sent form my Ford" tag at the bottom.

Just take a lesson from their own web site. It does a pretty good job of "melding".

I bought my Mustang for the performance of the Coyote V8 and the MT82 Transmission. My 2006 Screaming Yellow GT was a much prettier car, but I overlook the ugly back of my 2011 GT and the boring color choices because the engine under the hood is fantastic and long overdue for the Mustang! :bigthumbsup

If the V8 goes away from the Mustang, I have bought my last one!:nono:

Yea, I hear you on that. I don't care if an eco boost four is fast, it won't sound the same!
Because you can get a 2008 KIA and it has that in there already…

Somehow you've missed the point. With a KIA I think everybody expects more bang for your buck in creature comforts. Without that all it has is economy going for it. Where Ford has dropped the ball is in promoting that with the Mustang you can get world class performance AND creature comfort.

The only problem with that is that once you get the electronics package, security package, comfort package, glass roof, etc, you easily have a $45k Mustang, if not more. There are much better options than the Mustang at that price point if you are really into the interior amenities.

Well . . ... "better" will vary from person to person. I traded a MOPAR for my Mustang so I looked at Challenger and Charger, but again "better" is questionable? Furthermore, at that time Chrysler would take your order as well as money, but they couldn't tell you when you'd see the car you bought. Ridiculous! I also looked at 1 and 3 Series BMWs, but talk about dealers with attitudes. WOW!

After the rentals I've had from Ford (Escape, Fiesta), I REALLY love our interior. It's simplistic, modern, great lines, solid features and everything just flows nicely. Can't say that for most of the cars on the road today because they're over doing it.

I don't mind our interiors either. Ok, sure the materials are kinda cheap but it's not garbage either. Granted, there is considerably better out there.

Some folks gripe about the leather.. the leather is holding up great in our 2010GT.

I have the cloth in my 2011.. and it is horrible; fraying everywhere.

The leather in my 2012 is doing fine as well, but I think it's more leather like than actual leather. I wipe it down once a week with Armor All leather wipes.

Although I think the hard, textured black panels on the door are rather cheap looking, my buddy's Audi has the same stuff. I do with the seats were a little better cushioned.

My leather is holding up perfectly fine and looks great. I do use treatment every month though.
