Gas mileage

Hey All,
Just out of curiosity, what kind of gas mileage are you able to get. My GT window sticker claims 17/25 (city/highway), now I am under no delusion, I do understand that those numbers are not always correct and driving habbits will play heavily on individual results, but to date, the best I can get in my GT Vert is 19.2 mpg. I do not race it, it has not been over 100 mph (yet), I do not use the AC, and I practice decent drving habits (mainly because my 4-yr old daughter is usually with me), but I still get significantly lower mileage than what is advertised by Ford or reported by the car magazines. How are the rest of you doing with mileage?

Only got about 475 miles on mine, mostly city traffic (we don't have freeways where I live)... with a little of deliverin pizzas. I'm currently getting 16.2 mpg, which I don't consider all that bad really. I'm fairly "gentle" most of the time, except when I'm not.
It seems like EVERYONE is doing better than me. I have '06 Gt Vert and it gets 13.5 MPG. I don't know if it because I only had it for 4 days and put only 150 miles on it. Does anyone else have any explainations??

You've still got your foot in it way too much ;) enjoy!
hell when the average says something i dont like i just push a button !!! and preferably when im on the highway going 65. i like inflated #'s anyway. lol. vynle.:eyepoppin
I get 22 to 24 in my V6 B&f to work...Highway at 75mph I do get 30+, on ethanol it's worse by 2-3 MPG.I'm HAPPY with that!
16 when i drive it hard and 19 when i drive it nice.

Haha, I don't stomp as much on it as one might think. I really drive "regula". I usually go to about 3000rpm's in first gear and then around 2200-2500 for all the other gears. And I usually give it a good enough throttle but not "stomping" on it like I want to....trust me I can't wait til I break it in.......

Speaking of which, does anyone know a good break in period timeframe?? My dealer said there are none since now-a-days these engines are made with such tight tolerances but still I like to believe there is a Break In Period. I think I will drive like I am now until I reach 1000miles or so.

So I would.......
-Keep it under 3000 rpm's
-Keep it under 70mph
-Don't use cruise control

Does anyone else have any other suggestions
GT, manual, no mods running 87 octane ... I usually get 16 around town and the best I've ever gotten was 26 doing 72mph in cruise control on the hiway. I could prolly get 19 around town if I didn't drive like I do and at other times, i'm down as low as 12.
Man, the sound of some of these numbers is making me feel better about mine, 18 city 26 highway. One of the other forums had people claiming 8 gajillion mpg with flooring it on city driving. The green beauty and I were feeling inadequate....
Wow I see some people with some horrible gas mileage!! I feel a lot better now!!! 92oct, 447rwhp, average 20mpg and I race everything!!!
With regular (87 okt) fuel I get 24-25mpg on highway, 20 mpg mixed and 15-16mpg when I'm on the mr. Leadfoot mood.. :tongue About 2-3mpg difference to my economustang which I fill with 91 okt (lowest rating found in Europe..)
Isn't the GT's supposed to run on 87 octane?? I thought all the testings done to it was solely based on using 87 octane? I thought optimal results were done using 87 octane on the stock engine.

I figured since all the results are based on 87 octane and I haven't tuned computer to run on higher octane, it would be a waste of money going higher in grade.....well, unless I do a MFI or something like that that NEEDS to be tuned.

Does anyone know of the cons of using higher octane grade for no reason? Besides the extra cost.....
