Start with the obvious: Try resetting the initial fuel shut-off switch. Is the filter installed with the corect "flow" direction? Crawl under the car and make sure it's not installed backwards and that the arrow points toward the lines going towards the front of the car.

Sorry man, thanksgiving week so traffic in here is going to be slow. Based on the fact you said you can smell gas and the car cranks I'd check to see if fuel is making it to the fuel rail. If not, reinstall (or replace) that filter you just installed and check the fuel pump. Sorry I can't be more help, I've got all the mechanical ability of a NASA scientist...which means I can't convert to metric units.:dunce: Keep bumping this until some of the more tech savvy guys wake up from their turkey coma.
