Getting Weird HP Numbers

1567 Views 10 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  SOLIDSTANG46
So I just had my car dynoed for the first time since I had all my modifications done and something just isn't adding up.

While doing research, I learned a stock 2010 GT puts down about 276 HP and 281 TQ to the wheels.

So it was quite the surprise to me that with my modifications, I am only putting 310 HP and 304TQ to the wheels using a DynoJet.

List of mods are:
FRPP Cams
FRPP Throttle Body
JLT Series 3
Pacesetter LT with O/R H
Flowmaster Outlaws
Bama 93 tune

Is this normal? I have been in contact with Bama @ American Muscle and they have been great with helping me.

But wanted to get the forums take on all this. Thanks all for any help

Dyno numbers are really hard to compare because there are too many variables . . . but yeah, that does sound a little low for your mods.

Mine was something like 295 HP and 300 TQ, also on a dynojet ; mods are in signature (basically stock -- Roush CAI, Steeda UDP's, Shaftmasters aluminum D/S, Bama 93R tune)

stock my '05' got 232rwhp w/CAI, with an actual dyno tune got 260 rwhp, that's with 87 octane. Should have done a before run to see a better comparison. But like said, does sound a bit low. Hard to compare another car, another day, another dyno etc.

If you listen to the manufacturer hype about how much each part brings to the table, then yes...you're a bit low.

From my skeptical point of view, you're not that far off at all.
Ok so don't spam me on this but if you picked up roughly 35 rwhp with those mods then you are not far off. Basically the throttle body isn't doing much to contribute to that overall number the larger diameter throttle body is actually reducing your intake velocity and may be hurting you a bit. I would think you should be at 315 rwhp..

Is the car manual or automatic? Cause i started out with bout 240 on my automatic 06GT and ended at 300

Mods are:
JLT3
comp cams mutha thumpr
motion deletes
87octane
pypes polished shorty headers
pypes pype-bomb axle back

You figure automatics loose more then manuals the shop that did mine said at the crank is bout 380 but because of lag i got 300 to the wheels

2010Black_GT1,

I noticed in your profile, your GT is an automatic. These numbers are exactly on par with an automatic 3v. Keep in mind that even a fully locked torque converter will roughly have a 10% slip. This is one reason automatics don't make as much power on a dyno as manuals.

Another important thing to note- is dyno numbers are just a reference of power. They can only simulate race conditions and aren't a true way to show how well a car performs. The best way to test that is on the track!

That being said, I think your dyno numbers are awesome for the current mods and automatic transmission! I would be very happy with those dyno results.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

I don’t want to come off as kicking a man while he is down.

But, you could have darn near paid for a Department Of Boost kit for that kind of money and be making 450hp/450tq.

Those are the absolute best DynoJet numbers for a 2010 GT with a manual tranny and 93 octane fuel.

I was thinking the same thing. Show's how effective F\I can be.
Let's be real here sure bolt ons are alot of fun but in all reality they don't add all the power you would think they should. You spend all that money and don't get much out of it. If you want big numbers forced induction is the only way to get that.
