I may attempt the fuel filter but have read some real horror stories about doing it, like peices breaking off and having to replace the whole fuel lines and stuff. Reason why I want to change it is because I bought an 06 with only 2.5k miles on it so it must have been sitting around for a whilethese are things you can do yourself.
dealers are expensive!

One thing the workshop manual says is to pull the fuse for the fuel pump, and then run the engine until it quits to get the fuel out of the lines. That might help with the spilled gas.

What's the interval for the fuel filter? I'm thinking 30k, but I'm not sure.
This is the workshop manual page I was looking at when I was checking how to do the fuel filter. I haven't done it myself, but that's where the fuse information is coming from.your car wont start with out the fuel pump fuse so you mean running?
