I think they are illegal everywhere, as a result of federal law. However, do the local Po-Po pull you over for federal offences? GTNOS? I think they do. I would love to see it just work "Hey babe, watch this... [poke the button]."

It is easy to get caught with this type of device. You may think that you can hide it, but if you have ever seen the lights change when a Emergency vehicile is coming, the sensors flash. This is how they know that the signal is being received.

Also like said in the article some of them have cameras that pick up what vehicle the signal came from and that sucks

The police can pull you over and take you into custody then the FBI will investigate or something

I wonder what would happen if 2 cars were using them at the same time, coming in at 90 degrees from eachother, like one going north, and one going east into the intersection.

Which would take priority, or would all 4 go green, lol

we dont have those in my dept. (probably b/c there are only 4 stoplights in the whole city.) but i have heard about them. from what i have heard, they are supposed to make all the lights turn red, not green, so that all traffic in all directions stops. the emergency vehicle just runs the red light. it would be worse if all the lights were green. entering that intersection would be a suicidal idea. im sure HazMat knows more about them. to my knowledge, no police cars in OK have them, only firetrucks in our major cities like OKC and Tulsa.

and i havent checked statute for that Jetblack, but i am willing to bet that they will have your a$$ if you are caught jacking with the signal lights. and i am most positively sure that if you jack with them and cause an injury or fatality accident... well, lets just say that you better learn to hold on tight to your soap in the shower.:winks there was some moron recently in OK who removed a stop sign. he caused a fatality accident, someone squealed on him, now his is down at Big Mac. (OK ST Penitentuary in McAlester, OK) we affectionately call it Big Mac.:winks believe he got 10 in for that one. Im pretty sure it just makes the light green for him and oncoming traffic. to allow the intersection to become clear ahead of him.

yeah, my wife's whole family is from IL, chicago area. she keeps trying to talk me into a trip every year to chicago. the idea of a big city like that scares the hell out of a country boy like me. downtown OKC is the biggest i have been too. it has 4, maybe 5 skyscrapers.:laughlitt no comparison to a city like chicago im sure.... and i can see that the ability for emergency vehicles in a city like that to be able to control the lights is a must. out here, i just turn on the siren, carefully bust the intersection. (and the handfull of cars there dont usually present a problem. have had to "make my own lane" from time to time though. we have 5 major hwys, an interstate, and a turnpike running through our city. last estimate was 50k to 60k vehicles running through in a 24 hour period.
