Went to Irwindale speedway Thursday night to test a new tune, etc.
Its only an 1/8 mile track, but the track hooks hard and I wanted to go to compare 60 foots, 330 foot, and 1/8 mile MPH vs my CA Speedway runs I did earlier this month.

Anyway, I got a new best 60' of 1.79, a new best ET for the 1/8 of 7.97 and a new best mph for the 1/8 of 87.55. Using the 1/8 conversion to 1/4 mile, that should put me around 12.35, which sounds right since I have already posted a 12.504

While I won against a 97 mustang and a newer Firebird, I got my doors blown off by a 502cid big block chevy in a chevelle with drag slicks and open exhaust. I also lost to a chevy nova with drag slicks and open exhaust, but that one was alot closer...he only got me by 4 tenths..

Anyway, I got alot of compliments on how fast the car was running, since my car looks stock except for the 18 inch cobra rims and tires. BTW, if anyone reading this is using nitrous...make sure you have a bottle heater. I still need to get one. By bringing the bottle up to the right pressure, it was worth 39 rwhp on the dyno. When I get one, I am going to make sure the bottle pressure is at 1000psi...which should put me in the 7.8X in the 1.8 mile.

Oh, but the story doesn't end there......on the way home a SRT4 passed me and I noticed he had the shoe polish numbers on his windows too....he was coming back from the track as well. I didn't see him run, but I noticed an aftermarket exhaust and such...anyway eventually the traffic turns light and we are side by side at 80 mph. He goes for it, and I go to with the N20, and I completely distroy him....:evillol:. However, when he caught back up to me, he DID NOT do the "flyby", so I turned on my interior light and gave him the thumbs up.

That is not bad at all!! I assume you're running the nitrous on those runs? Drag radials as well? Quicker than my buddies stock 03 Z06, at least ET wise, he hit [email protected] a few weeks ago.

Yes, definitely on the N20, but with no bottle heater I was leaving some horsepower on the table. And NO drag radials...the track prep is very good at Irwindale, I was surprised I wasn't spinning as well....I just have 255/45/18's for tires....

A buddy of mine at work has a C6 vette that wants to race me. He has a convertible though, with an automatic. I looked up some stats and it looks like the stock gearing on the vert is 2.73's. Do you think I could take him in the 1/4?

My friend owns a '68 Chevelle conv. with a BB 502, polished & ported heads. That car is insane, he cant get it to hook up though but when it does its crazy fast :drool: He took me for a ride & I was like WWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you could. For example, I've been running at the Barona 1/8th mile but the DA hasn't been to good. Last week it was 2437'. I ran a a best of [email protected] with a horrible 2.21 60-ft. My friends Z06 ran [email protected] the same day. I have a tune though and the C6's are really hampered in that regards from the factory so an auto with 2.73 gearing is probably a low 13 sec car at 106-108. Wow, those times vary alot. Looks like worst case scenario for me it will be a drivers race, and best case scenario I would take him pretty easily.

Well, we will soon find out....we both agreed to race at CA Speedway on January 14th.....the race is on!!!

It looks like most of those auto times are for the 3.15 gears. A lot of Vette types don't believe it but TM (torque management) effects the ability of the new Vettes to perform to their full potential. I gained .2 and 4 mph in the 1/8 from my tune alone. So if your friend is completely bone stock, I think your car will take his, at least in the 1/8 or 1/4 all else being equal.
