Grinding Noise & Vibration after ignition & while driving

4697 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  GTNOS
I have a 2006 Mustang GT that has less than 5000 miles on it. After I start the car, I hear these grinding/vibration noises coming from around the manual shifter. It started by only happening during cooler weather starts, but now its nearly every time I start the car. The noise level would vary depending on weather temperature and how long its been since I previously drove the car. To make matters worse, it now will occassionally do the same thing while driving within the first three gears.

Also, sometimes when I change gears, I hear a rattling noise coming from the engine. Its very brief, sounds like something metal rattling, like coins in your pocket. It only happens during shifting.

Any ideas on the above two issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Still grinding w/ no help from Ford

The grinding/vibration is growing louder by the day. The car is currently in the show w/ Ford and they claim they couldn't hear any grinding noise at all. I asked the guy if he were deaf because you can't miss it. He tried to say that all mustangs have loud engine noises because its a powerful car. How dump do these people think I am?

Any other help or related TSBs out there? Anyone else having this problem?

Repositioned the Driveline

Ford had to reposition the driveline in order to get rid of about 90% of the rattle and grinding. They told me that all mustangs have rattles and grinding noises coming from the engine. Hmm...

They also fixed one of the interior rattles in my door. Now, I have another rattle in my dash, in the far left. Also, does anyone else's CDs rattle in the 6-disc changer?
