Hi i have an automatic 2011 mustang GT and I’m suffering from the transmission. The gear makes huge shock wile every changing from the first to the second gear only at low speeds like when driving 0-10 mph in the traffic. so what i do to avoid this problem is to put the gear in the 2 mode to avoid the shock every time.

Is that a problem or just normal thing in all 2011 Mustangs gt??

Is the car stock or have you used a tuner on it?

my car is stock, now it's done about 10,000 Miles.
i never use my left foot while driving anyway.
the only way to adapt with this situation is to accelerate a little bit faster like to make the automatic shifting from 1st to 2nd gear after crossing 2k rpm which is not possible in some traffic off course ,

It's called an adaptive drive cycle. It's done at the dealer.

OP- I had a similar problem, and realized it was due to the above. I was used to driving a huge german sedan, and I didn't initially satisfy my mustang's thirst for... aggression! I attributed my car's behavior to driver error, and have since fixed it... Good luck!

Mustang auto transmission "clunk"

My 2011 GT has the same problem, been to 2 different Ford dealers, both say it is normal. Second dealer reflashed the computer.

It drives me crazy. I have people in the car and they all comment "what's wrong with your car?".

Call Ford "no" service line and they gave me a case number, and I took it to their recommended dealer. We went for a ride in my car, and another 2011 the dealer had. Both cars sound the same. Put both on the lift, issue in my opinion is the lash in the transmission. The Dealer's car and mine were identical. I have not taken a 2012 for a ride to see if Ford as rectified this "normal" condition.

So after 15 years of mostly buying Japanese cars I go American (I love the car other than this), I am regretting it. Best part about it, now the carfax has 3 dealer visits on it for the same problem.

Any suggestions anyone?

Customer: My transmission just fell out of the car.

Ford dealer: That is normal. If it keeps happening, bring it in and we will check, but we'll still tell you it's normal.

Customer: My car uses a quart of oil every 300 miles.

Ford dealer: That is a normal condition. If it gets worse we can do a consumption test, but we are still going to say it's normal.

Customer: My car vibrates really bad.

Ford dealer: Ford designed these cars to have a vibration. That makes it feels sporty and enhances the sensation of owning a sports car.

Customer: My wheels just fell off my car. It has 250 miles on it.

Ford dealer: It's normal for that to happen during a break in period. Put the wheels back on and if the issue keeps happening, just remember it's normal.

Obviously these are exagerations, but it's the perception your customers have. Ford, you need to fix these dealers or you aren't going to have customers.

LOL

Ford doesn't give a **** about Mustang customers. They sell too many other models to care. F-150 sales alone could keep Ford afloat. Do you think a few "boutique" Mustang customers mean anything to them? The existing evidence suggests the answer is NO.

Sounds like you are going to the wrong dealers for your service. I brought mine in at 1500 miles a quart + low. The tech said he hadn't heard of this happening, but acknowledged it wasn't normal. I had him change the oil and we are watching it for now. No problem now in another 1000 miles. However if it persists we will come up with a game plan.

Maybe we should start a who's got the best / worst dealer service. If there is a good service dealer near you, it would be good to reward these guys with our business for doing a good job.

Hi 2011CSmustang,

This is Deysha with Ford Customer Service. I understand your frustration with the “normal characteristic” answer to your concern. I’d like to review you case and make sure, there is nothing else out there to help the issue your vehicle is experiencing. Please, private message me with your VIN, mileage, dealer, and contact info so I can look this over for you.
