I'm sure it can be done, but is it really worth it???
Well, no one wants to buy stock GT mufflers and it could save me 100 dollars and I can weld...so it's a win-win'ish(since I have more labor)
Absolutely! This guy had a muffler shop install his axelback and to remove the stock stuff they hacksawed off his GT500 mufflers and welded the others in their place... major mess up on their part! So there is just a bit of pipe stubbed out of the back of the mufflers, mufflers, and tips.Whatever you do, don't cut out the factory ball and socket joint just in case in the future you score some better axle backs or choose to go catback and sell your stock pipes. Get the proper length and angle welded off the mufflers and flare the end to accept the stock overaxle pipes so your new mufflers will bolt on.
That answers my question, I was wondering why you didn't just unbolt the old and bolt in the new...because the GT500's were cut out!Absolutely! Because the ones he's talking about have no inlet pipe. It was cut off by some hack shop. Why don't you just buy the GT500 mufflers and leave the mid & over axle pipes alone, it's not like you'll notice any difference
Correct you areBecause the ones he's talking about have no inlet pipe. It was cut off by some hack shop.
I'm not saying it was aliens...bit it was aliens.
