GT500 Mufflers, not axleback on 2013 Mustang GT?

Anyone know if you can just weld on a 2012 GT500 muffler to the 2013 GT Axleback... of course AFTER you cut off the GT's muffler. I ask because I found a set like that and I can probably get them REALLY cheap because of the muffler shop's mess up. Then I can just weld them on. Thanks for your help!

I'm sure it can be done, but is it really worth it???
Well, no one wants to buy stock GT mufflers and it could save me 100 dollars and I can weld...so it's a win-win'ish(since I have more labor)

Wrong. People are always looking to return their cars back to stock. You can sell your GT mufflers no problem. Post yours in the classifieds. They'll be gone in two weeks.

Hmm, ok well that changes things up a bit. Thanks for the heads up!

Whatever you do, don't cut out the factory ball and socket joint just in case in the future you score some better axle backs or choose to go catback and sell your stock pipes. Get the proper length and angle welded off the mufflers and flare the end to accept the stock overaxle pipes so your new mufflers will bolt on.

Absolutely! This guy had a muffler shop install his axelback and to remove the stock stuff they hacksawed off his GT500 mufflers and welded the others in their place... major mess up on their part! So there is just a bit of pipe stubbed out of the back of the mufflers, mufflers, and tips.

That answers my question, I was wondering why you didn't just unbolt the old and bolt in the new...because the GT500's were cut out!

If it were me I don't think I would want to deal with trying to get these cut mufflers to work on my car especially if all I would be saving would be $100 over a brand new set that would fit, and line-up properly right out of the box. Just my opinion...and you know what they say about those! :winks

Why don't you just buy the GT500 mufflers and leave the mid & over axle pipes alone, it's not like you'll notice any difference

Because the ones he's talking about have no inlet pipe. It was cut off by some hack shop.

I'm not saying it was aliens...bit it was aliens.

Correct you are
Nevermind then.
