Harder to shift in gear when trans/shifter heat up?

Trying to troubleshoot something I've noticed recently. After stop and go driving, or on a very hot day and city driving, I notice that the car is harder to shift. Not like the MT82 issues, where it won't go into gear, but any movement of the shifter is quite a bit stiffer than on a cold start (ambient temps in the mid-70s). The car is equipped with a Steeda Tri-Ax, but I don't know if that's the root cause.

Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions for a resolution? I'm thinking a dealer visit is necessary soon.

Your thinking is spot on,that is why we pay for warranties, let Ford worry about it.
you might want to get rid of the short shifter before you take it to ford.

I was thinking of taking it out anyways. Trying to rule out anything that could cause it.

Who installed the shifter? Sounds like the boot might not be in right.

Did they change the fluid too?

I installed the shifter and made sure the boot was aligned properly per Steeda instructions. No fluid was changed. It has not been to the dealer for this issue yet.
Sounds like this may be more closely related to the Steeda shifter, not the trans. I will confirm Mon/Tues once I remove the Tri-Ax from my car.
Mine did the same with a Barton shifter,
took the shifter out while warm, and found
that the delrin used for the bearings
would swell when heated.
Took inside and cooled all was good, warm
it up with heat gun and got very stiff.
May be worth looking into.

I've noticed my stock shifter does the same thing. When cold, shifts fine, heats up and gets notchy.

Mine did also. Once I switched to Redline MTL the other day, I haven't had that problem. And it's a hot sumbitch here in southern NM.

spent the last two days cuzzing mine also as it started being goofy shifting. After having two of these cars with issues Ford needs to replace the mt82 with something else. 100% stock car
