What are your opinions? I'm within 6 months of ordering or buying off the lot if possible. I'm thinking I may be better off getting the "cheapest" GT possible, then using the money I saved for wheels/tires/exhaust/etc. What do you guys think? Specifically about the seats and stereo. Thanks

I've got the 2011 GT base with cloth and It's just what I wanted.I could have went with the premium but just like my 91 LX 5.0 I wanted the minimal package with cloth.I allways upgrade factory stereos, speakers etc so the base radio is fine for me.

If I have time later I will get some pics of my cloth interior and post them. This base GT is actually nicely equipped compared to other cars in this price range. The main thing is that 32V DOHC 5.0 wait untill you drive this car.It is crazy fast with 3.73 gears.

I'm so glad I did'nt buy any of the other cars I was considering.I've been out of the performance car game for almost 10 years and for my comeback,I was going to go with a sportcompact,

I considered STi,Mazdaspeed 3,Cobalt SS,Genisis 3.8 track

after I saw how affordable the new GT was it was a done deal.If you are like me you will be happy with a base GT with 3.73's, and yep had money left over for mods:nogrinner I've ordered Magnaflow comp series catback and catted X-pipe also Steeda CAI with SCT tuner

If I even had the money for a new GT, which I don't, I'd have to order the base car to save $. The Premium Package costs a lot more than it used to.

I think the base radio would be good enough. What I might NOT like is the base steering wheel and cloth upholstery. I am not sure, but believe that the leather steering wheel from the 05 to 09 would work on the 11 model (takeoff part). Certainly the leather can be purchased as takeoff. Most all takeoff leather is black, so I'd order a car with black interior. Then the only thing missing would be upgraded door panels. I could live with that for the huge savings of buying a base model over the Premium model.

Options I would order on a 2011 GT: Brembo Package, 3.73 gears...that's all for options for me !

Seems Ford is currently into making huge profits on options, not allowing a la carte purchasing of options as previously. Eg. in the 05-09 models one could order a deluxe car, then add premium interior and leather as individual options. This is no longer the case. Also interior color and combination options have been lessened. They save $, we suffer with fewer choices.

I think it all depends upon what you want to do with the car and your budget. If you are going to hot rod and got to the track, etc. get the base with the Brembo package and 3.73 gears. However, you will be in the $33K+ range in that case already. If it is a daily driver, get the Premium without a doubt. The premium is only a few thousand more.

This is the finest Mustang I've owned, but the one thing I would change about the interior of my base GT is the steering wheel. All of my previous Mustangs with cloth interior had a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Since it is interchangeable with previous models, I will eventually change it. FRPP also offers a wheel for just over $400 :what:

I would have liked to see the 6-gauge cluster in all GTs. Just like back in the day......

The rest of the interior, seats and the stereo are fine by me. The seats are comfortable and the stereo sounds good, has satellite/aux inputs and plays CDs. That's all I need. I like having 10 channel presets without having to change to FM2, FM3 etc like on other radios.

I will be changing the mirror to an auto-dimming version, but that is only my personal preference. I wouldn't have expected that to be standard equipment on the base model.

I actualy like the base GT 18" wheels. The exhaust sounds really good as-is, and doesn't attract attention(police). I do a lot of highway driving, so the 3.31 gears were my choice. If I mod this Mustang, my only mod will be a supercharger, which I think will work great with the 3.31s.
