While driving my Mustang today, I got to thinking about how it does not have the Ford oval on it. In fact, I have never remembered seeing any Mustang with the blue oval. And while I was thinking about that, I have no recollection of any other Ford in the past couple of decades that does not have it, other than the Mustang.

Chevy seems to have the bowtie on everything, including the Camaro. To my limited knowledge at least. Any thoughts on the subject?

My 2000 GT had the blue oval on the right rear & if I remember correctly, my `90 5.0 notch back had it on the right rear on the trunk lid. :yup:

I'm glad we don't have it and I hope the next Mustang continues the lack of Ford badging. I like the horse badging much better.

what I always thought was strange was the Foxes didn't have the horse on the car...only a small "mustang" script on the back side window...sans the 93 cobra of course...

My old `73 didn't have Ford on the exterior any where. There was the blue oval on each door sill.

The only badges on my car is the mustang on the grill (Soon to be replaced with a Black Billett Mustang Delete grille), the center caps on the rims (Soon to be replaced) and the rear faux gas cap.

No fender badges, no strips, no dealership logos, badges, or stickers. Once the mustang on the grille and rims are replaced then the faux gas cap will be the only thing on the exterior that identifies the car at all. Just pure, clean, uninterrupted, highly polished Kona Blue paint.

The current style doesn't need any badging. Even people who are barely aware of car types can pick it out as a Mustang.

If Ford goes through with the Ricification of the 2015 model, then we'll need the biggest pony badges, and the larges blue ovals we can find to let people know it's a Corollastangundai.

I had not notices the blue ovals on the SN95s, and never was interested in the Fox bodies. I am very glad they are not on the S197s, as I think it inappropriate.

Ford's lack of Ford badging is actually a tribute. As a manufacturer if you can have the public identify your products by just an icon you have wildly succeded. I had a 89 Thunderbird SC that also had no Ford badging, but everybody knew it as a Ford Thunderbird. Chrysler hit it huge when they brought back the HEMI (Even though it was only a semi HEMI). Not many people know what HEMI means, but they know they want one.

My 10 V6 had the ford logo on the center caps of the wheels, which I promptly replaced with the pony and bars ones.

Mustang is the only Ford that doesn´t need Ford badges.

My 81 Fox has the running pony on the hood medallion. Then 83 til 93s had a blue oval on the trunk.

My 03 New Edge also has a blue oval on the trunk.

Classic Mustangs didn´t have the blue oval but most of them had the F O R D lettering on the hood

The door sills of my '61 Thunderbird do too.

I have a funny feeling that whether the 2015 does or does not have a prominently placed Ford oval will be a good barometer of how much those of us who currently really like the current Mustang are going to like the new car.

With: Expect super generic Koreuropanese styling, probably coupled with Ford's unfortunate new signature, the open fish mouth grille.

Without: You'll instantly know it's a Mustang.

And for the record, I ain't got nothing against the Ford Oval. I have a garage full of Ford. But a properly executed icon won't need it, even if sold worldwide.

It is impressive that the mustang is all you need and you know it's a ford. This conversation comes up with my mustang friends.

My '68 has the oval on the door sill. The '12 has the FoMoCo stamp on parts, but no blue oval.

No blue ovals, but it does say Ford on the faux gas cap.

Obviously not the blue oval, but the Ford logo is stamped on all the glass (windshield, side windows, rear window)
