I currenty have then engine out of my car doing a PI swap and replacing all the bearings and gaskets I have all the parts and I am finally ready to put it back together and in the car. I wanted to put some headers on while it was out because I know it would be easiest but I havent found any used ones that I like yet but the car has been out of commission so long Im ready to get it running again. So my question is if I put it back together with the stock manifold and I find some headers later how easy or hard (I imagine its going to be very hard) to replace them while the engine is in the car with long tubes or shorties and I do have access to a lift. Thanks!

Well the longtubes would be harder to install than the shorties after the engine is back in the car. But shorties aren't worth it in my opinion for all the hassle involved.

You asked if it would be easy or hard. I told you it would be hard :D

I'll try to find the guide I used and post it up on here. You have to remove a ton of stuff on the front. Wheels, brakes, suspension, steering rack, k-member, etc.

EDIT: Here is the link to the writeup I used.... http://www.fnsweet.com/garage/lt_install/index.shtml

Haha yeah it was definitely a learning experience though. I had access to another car while mine was up on stands, so I was able to take my sweet time.

Well thats good mine has been out of commission for a while and I really want to get it back up and going Im tired of driving the wifes stratus or my Gsx-R in this god awful Florida heat but I wanted to put LT's on it before I put it back in so now Im just not sure what to do because next weekend Im putting the motor back together PI swap and all the new bearings and such then the weekend after probably going to swap it into the car so I guess I have about 2 weeks so find some decently priced headers or they may wait a long while

honestly, if you can perform a PI swap by yourself and you have access to a lift, then i wouldn't think a header swap should challenge you too much. dropping the k-member isn't too bad. it would make a good weekend project.

given the choice, though... if i were you, i'd pull some headers out my ass real quick and do it while the motor's out. :gringreen

Rabbit, when did you move to Colorado? I thought you lived in NC...?

But yeah like he said, it's not really hard. It's just time consuming and frustrating at times. Do it now before you put the motor back in.
