I want brighter headlights. I dont know anything about them. Do I need a dual beam bulb, i mean are dual beams for regular and highbeams? Is H13 the best? What brand?

If you want to stick with conventional bulbs, get Sylvania Silverstars.

Which do you recommend stl?
I just can't justify the expense of HIDs so I went with the Silverstars. They work just fine and are a lot brighter than OEM.
wow, I wish i knew about that kit..i just dropped 270 on the one from American Muscle...:frustrated:

There are two ways to do brighter bulbs:
1 - replace stock with Halogens (such as H13 or Sylvania Silverstars); halogens should be listed as H## or 900#; 9000 series halogens are often blue-tipped to mimick true HIDs. This is easy to do, since you are just changing a light bulb.
2 - replace stock with HID kit (includes a ballast box that needs mounted near the lights); rated in Kelvin temperature, where the higher the number, the more blue (or even purple) the light appears. Since these bulbs actually emit a light that is in the blue end of the spectrum, they reflect off objects better to create more clarity in the darkness - that is their advantage over straigth halogens. Also, my buddy and I installed a $65 kit from ebay (still working great!)... so be sure to shop around.

Regardless which you choose... you probably should get projector lights (which block off the top of the light beam to create a sideways "D" shape). Then you won't be blinding oncoming traffic with your new, intense lights! :happyhapp Also, it may be illegal to use HIDs or halogens without having projectors in some areas... :so

About 6-8 months ago, I replaced my amber parking light lenses with clear. It looked pretty cool in daylight, by at night, YELLOW. Not cool. :nono: I wanted to brighten things up a little, so I called Sylvania--
I just got off the phone with Sylvania....

+1 on the Silverstar High Performance. Stay away, IMO, from the Silverstar Ultra's. Life expectancy on them is terrible...maybe 1 yr. have had the Silverstar HP in wifes Vert the longest, over 2 years and still going. But I suppose a lot has to do with whether you do a lot of night driving, etc...

H13ST-Headlamps and 9145ST for Driving Lamps.
Just put in my HIDs. I'm extremely impressed with the amount of light they put out and they just make the car look sharper. I definitely reccomend them.:bigthumbsup
I run the 15K HID kits from Retrosolutions. I am very pleased and have a lifetime warranty. I have had them in two stangs and my wife's tahoe.
I have seen videos of the hid installation and it seems a bit confusing, I may just do the plug ins for now

what ballast's man? i thought you were just gunna swap out bulb's? if your just doing bulb's... there are no ballasts.... only if your doing HID's you will have ballasts in which case let us know and well help ya out! Hid's are nothing.... done a few sets on my motorcycles and the hardest part is figuring out where to place them.

Yea the only reason I dont want hids is because of ballast they look like a pita to get right and mount
Get the Silverstars because they are $40 and plug-n-play.
Preston, have u had any problems with this kit? i have seen where some people have problems with them, for instance only one headlight turning on when u turn the headlights on or the lights flicker all the time
