I'm asking if anyone can identify what the 16 pin Female plug is for that is hanging in the trunk under the carpet in the spare tire well. It is not connected to anything.
I have not bothered yet to tear apart the panels to see where it goes yet. Maybe its some kind of harness for the hitch lights?

That is for plugging in the Flux capacitor. After you do, watch out when you hit 88 miles per hour. :winks

If you don't have one of the Shaker systems, that plug is likely used by the subwoofers for cars with that option. Typically, all cars use the same wiring harness, as it's cheaper to build just the one harness. That also makes it easy to add OE optional equipment later, as it simply plugs in.
This has been the case for Ford, anyway, since at least the mid '80s.
