So my brother gave me his SCT live wire "tuner" I'm not sure of the technical term. The question is can I tune my car for 93 octane with it, since that's all I run, and would it be worth taking to a dyno shop if I couldn't do it at home?

Does it have a tune already in it? And if so, custom or canned? (canned is a norm tune from SCT) If its not specific to your car, don't use or really adjust. The only real thing you can adjust in the livewire like most SCT tuners, is WOT fuel and timing. I would say call a good known tuner or find one local to you that deals with SCT and give them a call.

well the 96 isn't super "tunable"...not to mention it was tuned for 93 from the factory since that is what your supposed to run in it
