I want to change the H-pipe to a high flow catted X-pipe and also the mufflers. I just need to know which mufflers are the best and loudest, I'm looking for a nice deep throaty sound that will turn heads. Thanks in advance.

I have JBA axle backs only. Sounds good. Just the other day one of the guys in the mustang club said my car sounded good when I passed him.
Here a link to my car domain and you can check out the before and after video of my axle backs.

Do the JBA axle backs look very similar to the stock mufflers? I went on the JBA web site and they show a pic of rectangle mufflers like the stock ones. They also show some that look like rice burner cans, which do they look like. Also how does it sound, I couldn't get the video of yours to work. Is it a deep nice throaty head turner sound?

I made sure the video's were working and they are. Just give the video's time to load.
I apply left foot to the brake and right foot on the gas … hold firmly, steeda axle backs screaming. Turns heads for miles.

Hi Runmygt,

If you want arrest me loud and still keep the cats you need JBA shorty headers, Magnaflow Tru-X pipe with cats and JBA rear mufflers. This system is so loud that you will get a ticket and set off every alarm for two blocks because of it's low rumble. But be warned, this system is LOUD ALL THE TIME! Sort of like having open headers but with more style. I have this system installed and it's really too loud for the street without getting every cop in two counties looking for you. I had to install the stock mufflers to get my wife in the car.

Of course if all you have money for is axle backs SLP Loudmouths or Steeda's race cans are going to be the loudest.

HTH
depends on who your trying to Impress

If you want the sound that impresses 12 year old kids sitting on the corner leaning on thier bicycles:handball:

Some rice-rocket king and his $12K sound system pumping some getto rap into his wasp-my-daddys-got-the-money ears:happyhapp

Someone who knows what "little or no restriction" means to a vehicle tuned to 93 octane with 3.73's and a Cold air intake.:winks

Which one of that group do you want to turn the heads of?
Thanks for everyone's input, I have decided to go with the Magnaflow True X-pipe w/ high flow cats and the JBA axle back mufflers. This should be a great combination and hopefully turn some heads. I take the car to shows all the time and I really like the loud exhaust sound of a V-8.

I have a set of JBA axlebacks that I had on my car for about 3 weeks before switching over to the magnaflow kit... If you want to save some money hit me up with a fair offer on the mufflers?
I'll probably just end up putting them on ebay eventually...

Thanks but I already bought the axle backs yesterday afternoon for $311.50. I'm just curious why you switched to the magnaflow mufflers? I listened to them on the magnaflow web site and I don't think they sounded as good as the JBA's.

:evilchuck

How about the "I don't care who hears it besides me, and I want it to rumble enough to disrupt my heartbeat" group? (that would be me)

I decided to start with the SLP Loudmouths. Unfortunately, after ordering them from machperformanceparts.com almost a week and a half ago, they still have apparently NOT SHIPPED OUT.
I even called them right before placing the order to ask if they had them in-stock and ready to ship, to which they answered "Yes". :thumbdown

Oh well.
The September issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords Magazine contains a complete review of five axle back exhaust systems for the 05 Mustang GT. Power and torque results are compared within a 2400-6200 rpm range for each muffler. They even look at the GT un-muffled and give decibel ratings at idle and at 2000 rpm.
It's an interesting read.
