Help with turning on/off traction control

Hi, I have a 2000 3.8L 5sp GT Clone Mustang and yesterday I was fooling around in a parking lot so I figured I would turn off the TC. This was the first time I tried it and when I pushed the button nothing happened. I know my idiot light works b/c it lights up when I start the car. Is there something special I have to do to turn it on/off? I was wondering if anyone could have possible solutions to my problem.

Your idiot light doesnt come on when you push the button, it comes on if the tcs senses wheel spin. Does the light on the switch come on?

Dan
Hmmm... Can u take the switch off and test it with an ohmmeter with the power off or even a test light with the power on?

Dan
Yeah I have the same problem with my 99 cobra. The light is off and I still can't spin my tires. I mean they will spin but then hop. When I turn the light on it does the same. It sucks because I can't do a burnout.
I believe your wheelhop is from the irs, not the tcs.

Dan
well my light is always on, even when i press the button nothing happens, it stays lit. which leads me to believe that the switch doesnt work so my car is stuck with TC on i believe.
Is the ABS light on the dash on? If not, does it definitely work? If there is a problem with the ABS system the TCS shuts off automatically! Let me know, if this is the case i have something else for u to check.

Dan
If the light on your tc switch is on then the tc is turned off at all times. You cant turn it on if there is a problem with the abs sensor since the work together. Take a look at the sensor on the wheel which you had the problem. Make sure that the sensor is clean and see if it just isnt too far from the sensor ring.

Dan
Any luck biftisrif?
