Help with turning on/off traction control

Hi, I have a 2000 3.8L 5sp GT Clone Mustang and yesterday I was fooling around in a parking lot so I figured I would turn off the TC. This was the first time I tried it and when I pushed the button nothing happened. I know my idiot light works b/c it lights up when I start the car. Is there something special I have to do to turn it on/off? I was wondering if anyone could have possible solutions to my problem.

well my light is always on, even when i press the button nothing happens, it stays lit. which leads me to believe that the switch doesnt work so my car is stuck with TC on i believe.
Yes, I had a bad rear carrier bearing and while fixing it something happened to the ABS sensor. The ABS light is always b/c of the sensor but they still work. According to the post from 02silvergt this is the reason for my TC switch not working. If this is my problem is there a solution besides getting it fixed?
