Hey guys im Colin from new braunfels, texas (river city). Im currently on the market for a mustang i think im still trying to decide. Right now i currently own a 95 Honda Prelude h22a and i really wanna get out of the 'rice' world per-say. I've had my prelude for the past 3 years babying it and doing so much work to it.

But i've come to my wits end and finally got on the market looking for a new car. First thought was RX8.. but not for me, second was mustang. And i've been on this for the past few weeks, and finally decided i want one. I found a 2003 Mustang GT for around 8.5k which is pretty reasonable i would hope. Its in great shape and has 70k miles.

My questions are though im going to college pretty soon and i want a reliable, fast, and sexy car (yes im 17) And want to know if a mustang is a good choice on my part. Im going out next week to test drive my first mustang GT to see but want to get some views on it before i take the plunge of buying one.

I've done a lot of research and the 4th gen GT's 99 and up have around 260ish HP and a LOT of torque which is nice.

I just want to know a few of ya'lls opinions of the pro's and con's of mustangs around the model im looking at.

Thanks!

(yes i realize this is a mustang forum, so im hopin to hear a lot of good things ;) )

Welcome!

Well, concerning reliability, our 96GT has had no major issues in the 10 years we've owned it and we're now sittting at 115,xxx for mileage. Our 06GT is at 20,000 and we've had no issues with it either.

I haven't priced the 99-04 Stangs in a while so I don't know what NADA or BB is ranging them at. I do feel that a 99-04 GT would be a great choice for a first Stang. If snow isn't an issue where you're going to school (outside of TX) then you'll have no driving winter woes.

The aftermarket is wide open for the 4.6 litre engines so if you're into modding you'll have a ball.
