HID Ballast Location Question

Alright guys, im about to buy some HID's for my headlights and the CS fogs once I order them. Im just wondering where you guys put the ballast for the headlights AND the ballast for the CS fogs. Also, do the ballast come with double sided tape or something like that?

The factory HID ballast for the Headlights is located on the front facing portion of the strut tower on the passenger side, there should be 2 pre-drilled holes already there.
on the driver side i put it under the intake on the front part of the wheel well. and on the passenger side on put it between the fuse box and the fender on the top of the wheel well
Sounds good, do you have the high/low beam function? I just read that you have to wire into your battery for them. I didnt see anyone else saying that they had to do this. Now I just gotta find a good spot for the CS fogs one.

bi-xenon yes. but all i had to do was connect a wire to the fuse box power supply and i had 3 grounds to connect to the body. that was it. make sure you use bulb grease for the non high powered connections. i had a big problem with them going out. then i got it all cleared up after the grease.

On a related note, those of you with stock HIDs/projectors: What happens when you use your high beam flashers when your headlights are off? Do they even try to ignite, or do they do nothing except drop the cutoff shield?

They ignite quickly
I've mounted both my ballasts to the wheel wells. On the drivers' side it's just below my CAI box. on the passenger's side it's mounted about halfway down the wheel well with the relay mounted on top of the well. I went out and bought "industrial" strength velcro to mount them. This way if I ever need to change them out it makes the switch easier. As penguin said, if you want bi-xenon then you will have to wire into your battery or the accessory post in your fuse box and then 3 grounds. I used one of my radiator mount bolts, one factory ground and finally, one of my fender bolts. The install itself is quite easy but good luck anyway :bigthumbsup

Thanks a million for the info! Im actually in the market for some projectors right now so untill I find a good one im just gonna slap some better halogen ones in. Im looking at the 2013's to see if they fit.

maybe a dumb question, but I bought the low beam only kit from DDM... and it didn't come with any wiring to the battery... from what I'm reading here and piecing together, low beam only kit doesn't need to be connected to the battery?

From what iv read up on no. It seems that the high/low beam ones need it only.

You don't NEED it, but it can give additional stability if you're running 55w ballasts. The reason a relay to the battery is suggested is because the initial surge of electricity required to ignite the bulbs (or in this case the hi/lo functionality) may be too much for the stock wiring. As such, pulling it directly from the battery would give you the juice you need instantly.
