Installed a set of HIDs for my 2007 v6 pp and as soon as I turned them on I noticed immediately that my passenger side bulb was purplish instead of white(6k). Then they turn off..? So I said maybe I need to turn crank the car and they'll work... No nothing.

So what's the deal guys? Do they throw error codes or what?

Thanks in advance guys :)

I have had minimal issues with my ebay HIDs/ballasts. Sounds like you just ordered a bad kit. I tend to avoid kits because they tend to fail, and mix and match parts on my own.
Yeah what I've learned from eBay kits is that the ballasts are fine....just the bulbs are weird. Sometimes they aren't aligned properly, sometimes they aren't perfectly matched in color. So I mix in decent bulbs. Ballasts work fine...just in my experience they don't last too long.

I have literally never had a problem with a bulb, and all of my searching has been to find a reliable ballast.

The biggest reason that people's aftermarket ballasts blow is that they don't realize they can't turn them on and off rapidly. That's what kills them. I never use my fob unless I plan on turning my headlights on because it's a quick on/off if you don't.

Thanks guys and yeah they were some cheap ones off of eBay for like $32. They are Xentec with the slim ballast in which you can tell is cheap junk.

Come to find out tho my fuse blew in the fuse box in the engine bay. A 25A fuse so I replaced it and they worked and then wouldn't you know it.. A ballast blew out and the other works fine..

So I'm thinking about just buying a good HID kit from sonic electronix for like $55. Anybody know any cite with good reliable kits..?!

I've had my share of xentecs and the only problem I've had with those is flickering...even after adding a relay fuse, capacitor, you name it.

I'm actually about to retrofit my headlights to projectors.
Still doing research but I'm probably going to buy from theretrofitsource.com
The hid bulbs, ballasts, projectors and everything.

The kits there are definitely more than 35$ and 55$ but they are waterproof and made of good quality...
And supposedly they are highly recommended and have superb customer service.

Ill check that out and see. But yeah that $35 kit ain't worth two cent. The one HID that does work flickers on and is real bright, I'm pleased with that but still they are cheaply made.

You're going to retrofit your headlight to projectors? I installed http://www.americanmuscle.com/2005-projector-head-lights-black.html in mine and I love them. But my 8k 55w HIDs ain't that bright in them so I don't why the deal is so ordered some 6k bulbs but haven't installed them yet. I like the 6k color and it's a nice medium for me, not blue and not yellow. I live in the country and have deer run out in the roads and stuff so I need something bright. ;-)

I do want to get some extra bulbs just in case, so any suggestions on quality 6k H11 bulbs for the fog lights.

But yes I am running 35W HiDs in my fogs an not 55W, 55W would be hot I would imagine.

You're going to retrofit your headlight to projectors? I installed Raxiom Smoked Mustang Halo Projector Headlights - CCFL (05-09) at AmericanMuscle.com 49128 - Free Shipping! in mine and I love them. Collins '07Pony,

Just a word of advice- careful running 55watt HID's in your Raxiom headlights. Raxiom projector headlights aren't designed for any HID to begin with and from what I've found, the 55watt HID's are too hot. A lot of customers have melted their housings running 55watt HIDs. However, I've noticed that most people who run 35watt HIDs in their headlights don't have any melting problems.

Thought, I'd just let you know my experience with this setup. Hope it helps you out!

Hey thanks man ill have to check that out and make sure they are getting too hot.
I may just go ahead and get a regular 35W HID kit or switch to a regular halogen bulb. But if I ever switched to a regular halogen bulb I would want it to be as 'white' as possible, ya know?

So any suggestions on that Shane?
