HO Whipple Install - Back from the Dyno

Went to the Dyno this morning and it's all good news :) Power is 485 HP with peak torque around the 465 ft/lbs mark. AFR was pretty much consistent at 10.5:1 and at no point was above 11:1. Whipple recommend 11:1 for 10-12 psi so I'd like to think that's a good conservative tune. Peak boost was 0.685 Bar which equates to 9.94 psi, so about spot on.

I've been on this Dyno before and got 304 HP stock, and 324 HP with a C&L intake and tune. With this in mind I think the figures are pretty accurate.

Now I know it's as safe as it can be I've given it a few full throttle blasts. I can sum up the performance like this :happyhapp:D:hihi: Obviously I've no figures but it feels as quick as a Viper and I've been in nothing faster. Absolutely love it :bigthumbsup

Around town the car has lost none of it's drivability and even in the wet today there is no drama provided you don't floor it. Overall I'm pretty damn happy :gringreen

Yeah, buddy! That's flippin' sweet man!

What kinda grill is that, btw?

PS- why do your gallery pics say 06 GT, and your sig says 05? :wavey

The grill is a Classic Design Concepts black billet one Classic Design Concepts GT Replacement Grille

I've also fitted a Cervini's 500 front splitter and smoked turn signals. I've got a GT500 rear wing ready to fit too when I get the chance.

No idea why the gallery pics say 06? It is an 05.

EDIT - My fault with the photo descriptions. Now changed :bigthumbsup
That's fantastic. Nice dyno.

I do believe that 10.5 is too rich. I would personally go with the 11.0 Whipple recommends. 11.0 is still very conservative and safe.

At the moment I only have the Ford Pro-Cal tool which installs the canned tune and has no facility to make any alterations. I assume I would have to go for something like an SCT and go from there. The only problem is that here in the UK there are not that many tuners familiar with the S197 (or US cars generally). What are the potential issues with running too rich?

None that I know of...maybe just a waste of gas?

Haha, no prob. Thought you were trying to hoodwink us;)
Good numbers,

A bit on the rich side.

Going too rich can cause excessive heat just like going too lean. They must be balanced.

That and if running colder plugs, they'll foul quicker.

Try to get your AFR around 11.6 that is still considered safe. That magic number is 11.9 for your AFR. You should get a few more poneys off of it and it should still be safe on your stock block because 11.6 is a very good AFR number
Cheers guys. Will look into getting a tuner so I can start tinkering a little.
hey benny do you know if i would have to grind of the tenssioner on the non intercooled kit,and why did you had to grind yours
