Even most of the new ecu's don't come with the programming....that is a dealer installed item.
Yeah using the same controls pack and ECU that it is already on my car as online it says the engine is a direct replacement for 2011-2014 mustangs, doesn't say anything about having to buy a new controls pack along with the engine unless doing a restrooms install. Are you using the old ECU from the car, with the new crate engine?
If so, there could be all kinds of mismatches there, I thought the ECU had to be matched and programmed for the engine. There could be some significant changes from 2011 to 2014.
Yeah I don't know to be honest I always thought the ECU could be used on a 11-14 and only have to buy a new controls pack to run the new 2015 engine. That's what's advertised anyway.I really don't know and don't want to confuse the issue or mislead you. But I thought the ECU and engine kinda went together . . .
Hopefully someone who knows will chime in.
