So my driver side window is covered in water spots that just wont come out sense i bought the car. And theyre not just regular spots, they seem like those that are etched in and have been there a while. Ive tried so many things with no luck, im ready to just have the window refinished. Anyone have any advice on getting the spots out or on refinishing it? Thank a lot :bigthumbsup

I'd definitely try some vinegar. If that doesn't cut it, (pun intended) I'd try polishing the window with a fine polish or wax. The minerals from the water deposits are softer than the glass and should come off with this method, it'll just be a PITA.

I'm having the same issue. I have had the glass buffed and waxed and that did help some. Still several spots that are showing. Thanks for the recommendation on the Z-12. I am going to give that a shot now and see what happens. Thanks.

It's done the best so far. It helped but didn't get them completely off. I will give it one more application and I think give it up from there.

Here is the technique that body shops use to remove etching and sandblasting pitting from windows and windshields:

1) Take 0000 steel wool and a mixture of 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water and polish the glass. Keep the steel wool wet and soaked at all times. Scrub, scrub, scrub.

2) Take newspapers (yes, newspapers) soaked in clear water and in left to right sweeps 'sand' the glass.

3) Use a car polish (like good ol'Dupount No7) and polish the glass. Buff with a microfiber.

Good Luck!

All those things mentioned are a lot of work.

I bought this for my used Daily driver Accor that had a TON of water spots on the window:

It was wipe on, wipe off. It's a mild acidic compound (such that if it touches your skin, you feel it only after you dont rinse it off after about 10-15 seconds, but not burn immediately). You see the spots disappear as you wipe. I got mine at a local car wash supply shop.

I had to get the Ceriglass kit to get out the water spots out of my 89 GT sunroof and hatch glass. No liquids glass cleaner, vinegar, etc would take them out. I also tried the Mequiers stuff and spots remained.

Using the Ceraglass kit and bam, out they came with a little elbow grease.

Thanks for the additional recommendations. I'm going to give these a try. The water spots I have are pretty much on all windows. Wish I would have noticed better before I bought the car.

Looks like there are also some baked in water spots on the paint. Any thoughts there?

Thanks.
